Experimenting with making cyanotypes out of film negatives. This is from a self portrait I shot recently on x-ray film.

This made me wonder... If they do a Hot Ones with someone who needs a translator, do the celebrity and the translator both have to eat the hot wings?
SEAN EVANS: kojima-san, you once said that "just like the human body is 70% water, i'm 70% percent film" what advice you have for seeing the world through the eyes of other generations and ideologies

HIDEO KOJIMA: [lowering Da Bomb sauce flavored wing] does something like a "self" exist within you?

Took a few weeks of tinkering, but I think I have put together a solid process for shooting and developing these dry plate tintypes using flash indoors. Also happy I somehow am mostly in focus considering this was a self-portrait shot wide open on a 4x5

Shot this on dry glass plate mostly to test if I could use flash to expose these. Turns out you can, but it needed 5 full power bursts from a pair of 600 Watt strobes about 2 feet away. I do like the weird misty effect it created though.

Second try at shooting a tintype (this time a self portrait) was more of a success. It was mostly flawless until some of the emulsion began to pull away during the drying process. But it's definitely an improvement over the first go.

First try shooting a tintype and I'm calling this a semi-success. It's underexposed or underdeveloped and leaning towards the latter. Need to get the chemistry dialed in (and rinse this with photoflo because it's a dust magnet)

Doing photography 1800s style.

Had my first successful development of a glass plate photo. Looking forward to doing more of these + trying out tintypes/ambrotypes.

I looked this device up and this is just the thing from Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age, where it's an AI companion for wealthy kids but the AI is actually just a low wage human actor on the other end because that's actually cheaper.

Ok but it would be a funny bit to just refer to everyone and everything that annoys you as "a tool of the antichrist"
In leaked audio recordings, Peter Thiel reveals he told JD Vance to ignore Pope Leo XIV on moral issues, including the development of ethical AI. He also suggested the American pope was a tool of the Antichrist.

In a leaked lecture, Peter Thiel says he’s urged Vance to ignore the pope on moral questions — and simply pray for him.
