When you give people individuating information, they use it. Nearly the whole stereotyping literature relies on studies where people only get stereotyping information--no individuating information--so, of course, people use the stereotyping info.
🚨 New paper alert, at @jexpsocpsych.bsky.social:

Classic person perception models argue that group information (e.g., group valence) dominates impression formation, especially in less-than-optimal conditions. But is this really the case?

Apart from the moral and long-term strategic questions, a regime-change war in Venezuela would not be fast or simple. www.thebulwark.com/p/no-venezue...
No, Venezuela Is Not a ‘Small Latin American Country’
And talk of a quick invasion and easy ‘regime change’ is dangerously misleading.

The Trump administration tells the Supreme Court it can’t be compelled to fully fund SNAP because paying out the money would “irreparably harm” the government, while SNAP beneficiaries … *won’t* be irreparably harmed by going hungry? The balance of equities here is completely upside down.

“Schools and universities in Israel will soon have to think about how we teach this war. While curriculums are mainly in the hands of the education ministry, concerned citizens should push government officials to encourage students and teachers to scrutinize our conduct in the war.”
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

Michael Gross often hears three arguments to justify the high casualty account in Gaza. “These claims, however they seem to offset the moral costs, are partial truths at best, assumptions we must honestly confront through concerted debate and public education.”
Opinion | Israel Must Reckon With What It Wrought in Gaza
Israelis must debate three claims: that killing tens of thousands in Gaza was necessary, not Israel’s fault and the inevitable outcome of a high-tech war.
