chrisandmarkuk from Twitter. Hello!
One of those ‘why is this a classic?’. Not a fan of Eco I’m afraid.
Currently reading The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco and getting irritated that he assumes he can break into Latin and the reader will know what he’s talking about. I’ll never guess whodunnit.

Sorting a bank account for fourteen year old and it shouldn’t be this hard just because we have different surnames… It’s 2025, banks, come on.

Nor will it allow partnering and marriage with EU citizens - which is natural if young people are allowed to mix to give residence rights here.

Hence talented individuals will be more likely to set up abroad.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper on SkyNews is just plain wrong. The proposal for a youth mobility scheme falls far short of “free movement” because it only allows individuals to come for a limited period & does not allow them to settle in the UK or EU member state

Advice please.

Why they say ‘don’t buy American’.

(I’m not avoiding American yet but curious about this one).

So Heinz beans? American but made in the UK? This is still ok but my favourite tipple, Jack Daniels, isn’t as it’s made in the US?

Is this correct?

Really enjoyed the Wicked film (Ariana Grande surprisingly unannoying). I’m not liking the ‘book that inspired the hit musical’ though.

My Spanish pal texted this morning to ask if it was true that an MP had posted a noose on Twitter re: the Southport killer. ‘Don’t be daft’ I replied, ‘we’re not that bad’.

Had a quick look and oh, there’s Lee-stupid-Anderson posting a noose re: the Southport killer.

This country.

Sky News are frigging ghouls. At 8.30 I put it on and they’re obsessing over the Rudakubana sentencing like it’s imminent. OK, I’m sure I’ll hear it later - go for a shower, put dinner in the slow cooker, nipped to the shop. Three hours later and the sentencing still isn’t happening. Fucking mad.

This was a very good read - Cry To Heaven by Anne Rice.

Based on the Italian castrati, something I don’t know much about and super-interesting. A bit overly wordy, but this is Anne Rice after all, fab story and characters. #BookSky

Not to brag, but I just walked into another room and remembered exactly why I went there…

It was the bathroom, but still…

At this point I’m embarrassed to have even heard of America tbh… 😬🤦🏻‍♀️
I don't think I have ever read a sentence funnier than "tickets are now commemorative".

Yeah. You should frame the ticket you bought for $500 on craigslist, to a thing that you were excluded from. Because it is the perfect summary of the grift that is MAGA.

Had a lovely weekend in Chipping Norton, enjoyed it so much we booked the hotel for another weekend at the end of the month as we left!

Such a chill part of the country, it probably makes me officially middle aged but… just beautiful.

My 14 year old has blagged a day off school today with a minor temperature from his Meningitis and Polio jabs yesterday. Little shit, legit acted the ‘I am dying of a vaccine injury’ scene brilliantly. Fine now. Weirdly.
Vaccines are among the best of inventions. There's a high chance that without them, and the herd immunity they can deliver, you'd either not be here or would face a lifelong disability: *whether or not you had them yourself*. It seems crazy to have to point this out, but we forget it at our peril.

A very interesting and comprehensive conversation between Andrew Feinstein and Alexei Sayle

Takes:
1) Starmer's useless people skills
2) Tony Blair's facilitation of Arms Trade corruption -at home and abroad - while in office.
... and much more..
