Yes, I advocate testing in production, but ffs not like this.
What @mipsytipsy.bsky.social and I say is that you should not over-invest in making a perfect staging, not to have no staging! and that whether you like it or not, you are testing & debugging in production.
Fast, but NOT careless ffs.

Government is often too cautious with changes, but recoding the government payment system without extensive testing seems reckless.

American citizens should not have to enter into a contract with a private company (that’s an X account signup!) to receive government communications

If you really care about productivity, why aren't you examining the value of mandatory code review? I know this is my least popular take, but it remains unclear to me that it improves quality commensurate to cost, and it's the most unquestioned shibboleth in tech today
