Scotland's future can be that of a fairer, greener and independent country, where polluters, greedy landlords, and big corporations pay their fair share.

The good, the bad and the ugly of ‘rebalancing’ the ECHR

Human rights law should be kept under review, but that does not mean it should be weakened

"The whole idea of a hierarchy of equalities is a contradiction in terms", as then Deputy President of the Supreme Court judge Lady Hale observed.

This stuff is entirely uncontroversial.

In its anxiety to air the baseless conspiracy theory which supports its editorial line on trans people, the BBC simply fails to report that the mis-citation in the uncorrected 308 page Tribunal decision is (for reasons I explain here) of no consequence at all. bsky.app/profile/did:...
It is true that the uncorrected version of the Sandie Peggie decision miscites Forstater as being the source for the proposition that the Equality Act contains no hierarchy of rights. But the proposition is plainly correct, and is found in eg Turani [2019] EWHC 1586 (Admin).

Since 1948, in the wake of horrific atrocities, the world has marked December 10 as Human Rights Day.

It recognises the moment when countries united to adopt the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Here's how Keir Starmer is celebrating Human Rights Day 2025:

We must #ChangeTheNarrative!

Dr Beth Upton was fully acquitted of all wrongdoing in yesterday’s Employment Tribunal decision. Yet she has been vilified by a toxic & poisonous media for months.
It must stop!

Congratulations, and solidarity, to you, Beth!

I spoke in Parliament today to challenge the misinformation from those claiming this tribunal as a 'win' for the anti-trans agenda.

In fact it found Ms Peggie harassed a colleague for being trans, and it dismissed almost all her claims.

It also found that trans segregation is not supported in law.
We've written & published a short summary statement regarding the Sandie Peggie V NHS Fife Health Board employment tribunal case & the judgment given yesterday. Much of the media coverage has missed key information, the most important aspect being that all claims against Dr Beth Upton were dismissed
