In the Name of the Disabled Princess: Disability Metaphor in “In The Name of the Mermaid Princess”
Metaphor can be tricky when it comes to discussion of representation. Often it can come across as heavy handed or dismissive, especially for disability

They've moved on from one "bogeyman" to another.
Azeen Ghorayshi at the NYT has moved on from going after trans people and is now pushing the leasing question that autism diagnoses are too common because of its expansion of it to a spectrum.

If many of Trump and RFK Jr.'s talking points about acetaminophen sounded similar to the talking points they use to oppose gender-affirming care, it's because they are basically the same, @katelynburns.com writes.

Anti-Trans Policy Deserves Same Scrutiny as Trump’s Tylenol Disinformation
As a trans journalist, I see corporate media outlets as inconsistent in their treatment of right-wing disinformation.

Hey, cool! I just started reading 'Not Broken'!

And if you're autistic, you're NOT broken. 💙💙💙
For no particular reason whatsoever, I wrote a whole book about why society should stop trying to cure #ActuallyAutistic people and instead focus more on creating a better world and society for them. You can buy it here.

If you think that adults taking Tylenol hurt kids, just wait until you read what the adults in the Epstein Files were doing to them.

🤣
If you impregnate a bottle of Tylenol your autism will have kids

We should give it a try. I mean, what do we have to lose? Let's just release the files and see if it works.
It's absolutely certain that if acetaminophen causes autism, releasing the Epstein files will cure it.

Hey a thing I really don’t want to get lost here is that while Tylenol doesn’t cause autism, IT’S FINE TO BE AUTISTIC. Let’s not grant them the premise that autism should be eradicated in our way to correct the science, okay? Okay.

If you can relate and empathize with characters in a work of fantastical fiction but can't with an actual real human being because they are trans, or gay, or a different race, or a different religion, or a woman, something is fuckin' wrong with you.
Do I understand exactly what it is like to be trans? No. But with imagination and empathy, I don't need to have a direct analog. And imagination and empathy are something almost all human beings are capable of as long as they haven't purposefully killed that part of themselves.

hello this is your semi-daily reminder that for the most part Autistics say what they mean, mean what they say, and don't generally let things "go without saying". secret agendas are unlikely, assumptions are often unnecessary, if you have questions please ask them AND expect direct answers kthnxbye
