Twitter absolutely sold books for me--directly when I mentioned my books and also less directly because I connected to people who then read my books
And the other way round I found out about tons of books through twitter and bought them.
I feel like if you are Stephen King, any book selling twitter may have done for you might go unnoticed but for everybody else, everything I've read for like the past decade is because somebody I think is nice said "hey, I or my friend wrote a book about stuff you like and it's cheap."
I think it's been drummed into us that "twitter doesn't sell books" and that's maybe carrying over

I've made this thread with some great short fic I've read this year, but I think it's weirdly structured now. People's answers seem all mixed up and in a confusing order, so I think threads are still not working so fine around here.
Eligibility season is coming up and it's time to celebrate the wonderful short fiction I've read this year (in no particular order). There's more to come so keep an eye on this thread!

(It doesn't include everything I've read and liked. Otherwise it would be an endless list.)

BlueSky's been acting funny with my account for a while now, but I'm glad I'm finally here and can find other African writers through this thread. Thanks for putting this together, @somtoihezue.bsky.social

I hate doing that but with the current state of crisis (loved one in hospital + other stuff I won't go into), I'd love to have some income.
If looking for last minute Xmas presents, please consider my book? It has space jellyfish and martial arts and sapphic romance

Unveiling my second novel: WEARING THE LION.

This himbo hero Heracles, Hera's biggest fan, collects a menagerie of monsters in pursuit of the god who destroyed his family.

The trouble? Hera is responsible, and she'll do anything to hide the truth.

A new analysis of data from the Juno spacecraft suggests that the ice shell covering the ocean on Jupiter's moon Europa might be WAY thicker than anticipated. (With comments from @theplanetaryguy.bsky.social)

Possibly bad news for any hope of life signs from Europa Clipper, currently en route. 🧪🔭
