Big yikes. I don’t know how this could be interpreted as a private meeting when local residents of the public were invited & it was widely advertised. An apology + assurance it wouldn’t happen again + clarification of any CPS media policy would have been the right move here.
Alderman's Office Kicks Reporter Out Of Meeting On Controversial Bar Reopening
A 25th Ward staffer demanded a Block Club reporter leave a public meeting in Pilsen last week while two other reporters stayed. The move could violate the media's First Amendment rights, experts said.

Sad to hear. A lot of challenges to small Black owned and poc book stores.

I feel like so much of our politics can be explained by the fact that Daniel Perry is hanging out with Trump and Vance, while the liberal establishment is flummoxed by Luigi Mangione’s appeal.

New: for the first time, we are publishing the list of police departments used at the Chicago DNC in August.

100+ PDs across the state sent cops to Chicago, many of them in pairs.

CPD, meanwhile, primarily used their own tactical officers to arrest protesters:

Chicago’s massive DNC cop city included over 135 outside police departments
Recently obtained contracts between CPD and other Illinois law enforcement agencies illustrate precisely how dissent was crushed at the national political convention.

This is a very good explainer of how CPD, empowered by politicians and bureaucrats to do so, has used the consent decree process to burn through countless hours of residents' time while failing to meaningfully address their concerns.
NEW: Chicago police agreed to judicial oversight in 2019. Since then, a series of mayors and police chiefs let efforts languish and no one in a position of oversight has pushed forcefully to keep the process on track, @wttw.bsky.social and @propublica.org ‬⁩found
