The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) started using mail scanning at all prisons in September and could make it a permanent practice soon. This takes away the ability of incarcerated people to touch their physical mail, including letters/photographs from family. thetriibe.com/2025/11/crim...

Mayor Johnson is right. Journalists need to start asking individual alders exactly what they oppose about this budget and whether they have any financial ties with corporations who oppose the head tax.

NEW: Mayor Brandon Johnson says an unidentified individual tried to set fire to City Hall at 11 p.m. Friday.
A Chicago police officer put out the fire and it did not spread, Johnson says, calling any form of political violence unacceptable.

It wasn’t caving in when universities slashed entire programs and policies that supported students, staff, and faculty to appease conservatives…and its not caving in when the Democrats concede to the Republicans.

They want this. They are superficially oppositional, not enemies.
