I do not use ChatGPT because I still remember when you had to go to your local at a specific time of day to listen to someone slurring conspiracy theories with utmost confidence and I will never allow Sam Altman to take that from me

This is some scary shit you guys. Two pillars of the community—middle aged white guys no less—arrested because some off duty cop bastard sitting several booths away in a restaurant claims to have heard them “plotting against law enforcement.” We’re in the “ears everywhere, trust no one” stage of it.

Tonight's parenting win: subpar bubbles in bath, so I pulled out the little freebie milk frother/tiny electric whisk and fixed it!

Heroes have all kinds of battle cries. "Ha, ha, bitches, I got a new scooter!" is unexpected and I'm 100% here for it.

AI is like this giant fucking boat we all were forced to get on, and it's a boat they stole, and also it barely floats, and also it's not going anywhere good. So it either takes us somewhere we hate, or it fucking sinks, so either way, fuck AI.
So if AI succeeds loads of people lose their jobs as they're replaced by AI, and if AI fails, loads of people lose their jobs as the economy crashes?
It’s amazing how this story has gone from 0 to 60 in UK press. There’s been no mainstream coverage to date but this morning the story is leading BBC News site & bulletins.

Underripe pineapple: the snack that eats back.

Don't get me wrong, it's delicious and the prickle is delightful, but if I don't pack it up, I'm going to wake up without a tongue.

The trade-off as a kid is supposedly fewer rights BUT also fewer responsibilities. Tamir Rice should have been running around and playing, still. He should have been in the process of learning to navigate adulthood, not already be fluent in navigating the police state.

They murdered a child.
One of the many horrifying things about the way nonwhite children are more rapidly treated as adults is, in fact, that it is in the specific service of transitioning that "property" status to the state instead of the parents, and not conferring any rights or protections.

Sit with that, fellows.

In or out of context, this is a true statement. It's just the degrees of (not-)safe that vary from case to case.
Explosives are very very safe, then very briefly not-safe, and then safe again!

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

$39 a year folks. Thats what killing 600,000 to date will save you.

Would it be nice to live on a world where every country with the means worked to make the world a better place?

Yes. Of course.

In the meantime if you say preventing the deaths of millions isn’t worth $3 a month, fuck you.
I dunno. I do like our government spending less money anywhere they can. I like even more if my taxes go down as a result. Since when is our job to be the world’s mom and dad? Did other countries step up to fill that gap?
