Life is for the living, and living must be in pursuit of joy, or else even if you dedicate your life to avoiding pain you are still centering your life on your pain.

I'm done living that way. I am trans because I chose to fight for my own better world, and we can win a better world for all of us. 🏳️‍⚧️

There's a misconception I see a lot wrt to the social model of disability and disability pride more broadly that when we say these things we mean that disability isn't real or that our impairments don't cause real problems for us.

this isn’t my MOST woke opinion but it is one i’m passionate about:

borders shouldn’t exist and there should be complete freedom of movement globally. fuck visas. get rid of them
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Trans women are biologically female and our medical needs make a lot more sense if we are conceptualized as having essentially an extreme form of hyperandrogenism

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

I can't wait to see all of my mutuals that play Fortnite regularly to not touch the game for the entirety of the season in solidarity of all of their trans homies! It's so nice knowing so many people that aren't just allies when it's convenient for them! 🙂💖

Hint. Fucking. Hint.
Harry Potter x Fortnite coming in Chapter 7

(In other words, Fortnite is adding a transphobic authors work into Fortnite)

This is a really cool article from PC Gamer talking about Games Done Queer! Which is happening THIS WEEKEND!!

www.pcgamer.com/gaming-indus...
GDQ's upcoming event, Games Done Queer, has already become a fierce rallying cry of support for LGBT rights in the US: 'We had 450 hours of content submitted for the 36-hour show'
"We're here, we're bigger than you think we are, and we can band together when it's important."

Films are categorically easier to archive in a usable state than video games. Yes Nintendo has made game preservation harder, and that sucks, but Miyamoto is right to say that games eventually stop running.

Emulation is hard and porting is hard. Copying film? Comparatively, quite easy.

there are still a handful of game boy games that only one or two emulators can actually play correctly

all the people replying to the original bleat seem to think that emulation is a simple fact of life, that emulators simply rain from the sky rather than each being tiny little miracles

that's... that's the point. it takes legitimate work to preserve a game across platforms (or even across long-term changes in the same platform), which then has to be repeated for the next one, indefinitely. preserving a film in most cases means running maybe ffmpeg on it once every 20 years
The only reason games aren't "forever" is because they refuse to preserve them. I can buy a film from 1939 in 4K but fuck me if I wanna play Twilight Princess on my Switch.

Harry Potter is a book series I have very strong emotional ties to. I don't talk about it very much at all for what I hope are obvious reasons, but some of my earliest memories are my parents reading the books to me. I learned to love reading with these books.

I promise you can move the fuck on.
"no you see I can't let go of harry potter because I have a lot of formative memories attached to it, a feeling that you, trans woman from my exact age demographic, cannot possibly understand about The Most Popular Franchise Of Its Decade."

Only 1 person in the whole study went from identifying as trans to not identifying as trans. The 1/5 number came from youth going between the binary and non-binary spectrum.

This headline and post are misleading on purpose to fit the economist's editorial bent on the political issue.
A recent study found that children who transitioned young retained stable gender identities over time. But the fact that nearly a fifth of those in the group did not ought to give advocates of irreversible medical interventions pause
How stable are the gender identities of younger children?
A study finds that one in five who switch gender change their mind

This is not the case, but let's assume that all trans people are captured in that "80%" of youth who "transition young". Now let's say that 20% of people who transition young are actually cis and discover this later.
