Disney was having enough trouble getting people to watch the stuff they'd made with care, pivoting to make-your-own slop is going to put people off your properties even more. Imagine trying to get people excited about Frozen 3 if they've been swamped with uncanny Elsa videos on your own platform.

November 25th 2020 was my 32nd birthday. My 31st had been a lovely meal organised by my friends and had given me such a burst of love and optimism for the future that it felt like a cruel joke to be isolated only a year later. I was pretty miserable (as was everyone, of course!). But... 1/2

I have this weird but I suspect quite common thing where I get songs I've forgotten stuck in my head just from an association. So if anyone at Thought Bubble hears me humming Rain by Trivium today (a song I've not really thought of for 20 years) – it's that.

I'll have a very low-key table at Thought Bubble this weekend. I'll be in BubbleBoy at table F7b. Pretty much just going to be drawing and chatting about upcoming books and if I'll ever finish my small press books 😆. I will. Just been a bit of a year!

Starting to worry that my parents were right and music DID peak in the 70s. But then only the masterpieces survive in our memories and the day to day quality was pretty dire. Just a procession of men in their 40s with just the biggest sideburns crooning about wanting to be Elvis.

🧵My relationship to Marvel is as a consumer and I will never knowingly purchase or read a comic with generative AI, and I'd feel a failure to disclose such use an ethical betrayal. I read comics to be inspired by the creativity and dedication of artists and writers, not drink sludge. 1/4
I know there are a million writers and artists who want to be able to speak publicly about this, but due to the power dynamic of the publisher in question cannot.
Jobs in comics are already hard to come by, let alone livable page rates, so if you can speak up, please do.

Just think, at some point a room was booked out in Silicon Valley to host an all-hands meeting about incorporating copilot into notebook. I can imagine the Kafkaesque agenda. Someone using the word "story card" and "action plan". Possibly "energise" found its way in there too.

Us non-Americans are sure learning a lot about Cracker Barrel this week. It's crazy to think of all the other companies with woke logos that have gotten away with it for too long. They must be stopped. There was a single day in 2006 I was happy in, and the world must not change in any way from that.
