"air conditioned cinema" is actually a great term! If you've not seen this essay yet it's worth a watch – about how movies feel like they lack a physical presence:

I'm amazed it was all up on there for as long as it was to be honest considering Paramount had their own platform. Unfortunately it was also one of the main reasons I i kept Netflix...

Absolutely. And if you want a little twist of whimsy, they're here to keep the vibes going.

Funnily enough, another Ridley Scott film, The Counsellor, is mine. Utterly nihilistic and unpleasant, which was the point, but I've no desire to watch it ever again.

No it hasn't. How dare you...

Tbf it's amazing, widely available and easy to make. A real proletariat treat. I'm having it every chance I get. Enjoying the taste while remembering my ancestors. Imagining them with their bread dipped in meat dripping after a long day at mine. We made it, lads. We're eating like an Egyptian Queen

The story with inserting AI into the process often seems to be that it transforms production hours, spread across multiple professionals working in lockstep towards a precise vision, into the same hours being wasted by a handful of dorks hoping again and again to get barely useable footage.

I love that the internet – through a combination of drop shipping, advert spam, scams and AI knock-offs everywhere – now has the energy of a scuzzy fairground you vaguely remember your embarrassed parents getting conned into taking you to as a kid. Only the scammers and the gullible are happy here.

The elephant in the room is how joyless working with AI as a creative sounds. The process, even if you write the most detailed prompts, is still little better than a slot machine. Rather than honing or crafting anything you're just hitting refresh over and over and hoping for the best.

Well, I was going to say Snow White (1938) because it's the only 1938 film I've seen. But then in doing research in to art pieces from the era I was drawn to Violettes Haus vor Schneeberg, by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, an expressionist painter who took his life in pre-war Nazi Germany.

I've been using Deezer since July and it's not caused me too much of a headache. A lot of their staff playlists are pretty solid and the quiz feature is quite fun! I do find there's sometimes a few dodgy uploads under artists pages though (like bootleg live recordings) but it's easy to ignore.

I've noticed more people talking in cinemas and concerts. I think they were shutting up before because it felt like it would upset her

2/2- I was just moping around in my pajamas when there was a knock on the door. I opened it to find a homemade cake on the step, and a group of my neighbours from the flats downstairs were standing back on the walkway either side of my door. They sang happy birthday and I, of course, cried a bit.

I remember back when I was on Twitter I'd sometimes find myself going "Huh, why am I getting increasingly angry and despondent as I scro- oh, I'm on the discover tab."

This led me to a particular Wikipedia page to check something and it did not disappoint.

We watched this film in 6th form and I've been glad of it ever since. It's like a warding spell against media cranks.

I can't remember the last time I was there day one for a big AAA game. I get round to them eventually. I guess I'm just not locked in.
