As I understand it, this is follow-through on the softening of Alberta's industrial carbon pricing system that it announced a couple of months ago. climateinstitute.ca/news/alberta...
Alberta’s latest changes to industrial carbon pricing make MOU commitments harder to achieve
Seven days after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with federal government, Alberta changes regulations that make the $130 minimum effective carbon credit price harder to achieve

🚀 Just launched: The EU’s new Heat Auction is a big step for industrial decarbonisation.

It backs clean process heat — heat pumps, electric boilers, geothermal, solar thermal — with competitive, outcome-based support.

Koh: I think what we are seeing is what the founding fathers feared the most, which is the collapse of our checks and balances. The Supreme court is supposed to be a co-equal branch of government. It's basically a mouthpiece for Donald Trump at this point.

SCOTUS is a joke. Americans need to realize what a partisan body it is. Roberts has done irreparable harm.
just to drive home the point. Texas created this map in August. the lower court rendered its decision November. So three months later, a year before the election in question.
The word "eve" is doing a lot of work here in the Court's 'decision'

What's changed is that the Court has become more transparent in its corruption. There's not even an argument here beyond the implicit one which is: how do you expect us to hold the House without those seats?
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

We do not have a Supreme Court anymore, not in the sense that concept was intended by the Founders

As Justice Kagan begins her dissent by pointing out, what is even the point of trial, of fact-finding, of clear error, of standards of review, when the Supreme Court simply ignores every single part of that and decides everything purely on the papers without any real consideration of the facts?

Last year there were more wildfires in Canada than ever before - or so it seemed. We are signing up for more of the same.

Hopefully solar and wind will become so cheap we make the switch to clean energy. Politicians need to provide incentives for EV cars.
Of course, but the causation isn't "voters don't care so politicians deprioritize climate", it's "politicians work very hard to convince people that the economy (read: shareholder profits) must be the only urgent focus".
Climate isn’t the ballot question right now.

Only 13% rank it a top concern — meaning big shifts in climate policy can land softly if voters see economic upside.

China continues to press ahead with increasingly impressive (and increasingly affordable) electric vehicles.

The Trump administration is cutting fuel efficiency standards and dreaming about bringing back faux wood-panelling.

The race here is already over.
The shift to EVs is happening—fast. Manufacturers can either embrace the long-term transition or chase short-term gains by clinging to petrol and diesel.

China is choosing the long view. Many in Europe aren’t. The risk? Ending up with cars no one wants, lost market share, and shuttered factories.

Miller is my vote to take over from Carney when the time comes. Smart, honest and frank, and action-oriented (for a politician).
'The work starts now. It should have started yesterday.'

Heritage Minister Marc Miller says his government needs to “sit down and start working now” on consultation with Indigenous communities and stakeholders about a possible new pipeline in B.C.
