The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

If I were editing a column about Charlie Kirk’s political genius, I would tell the writer he needed to quote Kirk’s actual political beliefs. If the writer responded that doing so would weaken or distract from his argument, it’d be a pretty good sign that the column was not ready for prime time.

I took a lot of bible courses decades ago — really — and I don’t remember there being a grand prize for making the most pious social media post being on the list of “get you into heaven” items.

Imagine being born in slavery and living up until 5 months before the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Anna Julia Cooper is one of my favorite people in history. She was born on August 10, 1858, and lived to the age of 105.

I can't sum her up in a single post, but she was born 167yrs ago today

ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words.

It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence.

They are in charge.

Loved it. A romance writer & her sister smuggle families’ money out of Nazi Germany before WWII officially started while also finding refugee placements for people fleeing imminent death. And opera. These ladies adored opera.
Highly recommend!

Recently discovered the podcast Smart Podcast Trashy Books from @smartbitches.bsky.social and I’m addictive. Wish I had this pod when I was 12 and reading my aunts’ romance novels in the shadows of my own bedroom. #RomanceReads

A lot of the political rhetoric around appealing to young men boils down to reinforcing a hierarchy where white men benefit from the unrecognized and unpaid labor of women and other marginalized people on their behalf. That hierarchy still exists but anything that threatens it must go

"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work.

This book is WILD. The corporate gossip is piping hot. SWW isn’t really a reliable narrator, but that’s memoirs for you. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 5/5 Sharks would recommend. 🦈

Thanks @libbyapp.com & #IndyPublicLibrary for adding 27 additional copies so I only had to wait one week to read it!

I truly hope that one silver lining we take from this coup is that voters begin to understand that when you vote for president, you’re not just selecting one person. You’re selecting all the judges they’ll appoint, and the entire cabinet.
