Republicans chose to allow that tragedy to go unpunished because they were physically afraid of Trump’s vanguard. And the Republican base had little choice but to essentially become a part of that vanguard, as the only other option was becoming a Democrat.
January 6th made people afraid to celebrate Joe Biden, afraid to talk about their pride in that victory in public. Search your heart and you know I’m right.

I think it’s a bigger problem that a large part of the left is uneasy or downright hostile to showing any pride for Dems and their accomplishments. It’s either cringe or something that is tone deaf because someone, somewhere is still suffering.
