The literal interpretation of the third act feels gauche compared to what comes before it but you are not required to use the literal interpretation. It’s scary and beautiful and has three of the best actors in the world at its center. 9/10

An intoxicating, heartfelt, messy, masterpiece 10/10

Derivative, despicable, reactionary trash. Aggressively bigoted in obvious ways that were dismissed by the public and critics. In its way the perfect film for 2024. 6/10.

Growing up in the 90s I would go to roller rink parties. And the places were strangely dark and lots of parts of them were barely used anymore. It was a strange haunted liminal space feeling that even abandoned malls can’t match. This movie feels like that a lot. But it’s not good. 4/10

3/10. Tedious garbage that briefly conveys a sense of dread.

One of the most bizarrely atonal, fundamentally failed films I’ve ever seen. Not funny when it tries to be, has a third act which resolves in ways that are completely unearned. Has one of the greatest collections of acting talent ever assembled. What happened? What is this? 3/10

Someone said this is the “dead cat bounce” of De Palma’s career and that’s absolutely right. 5/10

I didn’t think this was that good when I saw it but I regularly think about it and am haunted by it off one viewing so I’ve decided it’s great

A movie about tragic ambition that never has to underline it or overplay its hand because of the incredible pathos its star is capable of. 8/10

An amiable movie about the marriage of a bombshell to a creep that required enormous chemistry between its stars and luckily they had it 8/10

Structurally how a musical should be, the songs are a catharsis for the characters and the audience rather than the narrative events. Culminates with the incredible finale that is a catharsis for the film’s real life star, a goodbye to her mother who rose from similar vaudeville stages 10/10
