Glad I cruised the yard for insects this afternoon. Found this "oil beetle," probably Meloe campanicollis, clinging to the base of our backyard wood fence. New one for our less-than-half-an-acre property in Leavenworth, Kansas, USA. We're over 1,600 animal taxa in 3.5 years.
