For years, Utah cities and the League of Cities and Towns have said they are working to address the housing affordability crisis. Talk is cheap. Their actions speak louder than those promises. It is past time that the state of Utah creates some basic minimum zoning standards to promote housing
Riverton Wonders: Allow Some Townhomes or Lose Zoning Power?
The Riverton Planning Commission tabled a pitch for townhomes, but some officials worry about state preempting local cities for more housing.

Some additional context: Of the 19 GOP senators who voted to adjourn today rather than rush a new congressional map, 10 aren't up until 2028 (so they're more shielded from the threat of Trump-backed primaries). And 2 more, whose seat is up in 2026, had already said they're retiring.

There's very little uncertainty left here.

It's looking extremely likely that Utah will be using this new congressional map next year that's all but guaranteed to flip a seat to Democrats, resulting in a 3R-1D delegation.

Important: It's been a week, & Utah Republicans *have not filed an appeal* on the judge's decision to toss out the map they tried adopting, & choose one submitted by the plaintiffs.

And they're signaling they're not going to do so with an eye to changing it for 2026: kutv.com/news/local/u...

One of the federal judges I'm writing about is the notorious racist Harold Cox, who often used the N-word in open court and more.

But even he didn't get this unhinged in his written opinions.
In an unhinged dissent in our Texas redistricting victory, a GOP appointed judge seems to believe that George Soros and I did...well, I'm not sure what...but he is very mad. Bigly.

Astonishing to stop and realize that, at any given moment, bands of masked men armed to the teeth are storming churches and daycares, terrorizing entire communities—and that most of the country's political establishment barely blinks.

The key point: "many of the authors and reviewers have been outspoken critics of gender-affirming care, are affiliated with anti-LGBTQ+ groups, and have little-to-no experience providing clinical care for young trans people."

Absolutely unhinged. The opposite — in almost every case — of what the “free speech warriors” claimed they wanted. It was always, as it so often is, just about control.
New: Reuters has tallied job losses, suspensions and investigations stemming from the reaction to Charlie Kirk's Sept. 10 assassination. Its findings: More than 600 Americans have been punished, and the figure is likely to be an under-count.

"Bovino is basically leading a rebel cavalry, a la Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, who raided and terrorized communities in...the Civil War. That latter analogy holds up particularly well in one specific respect: Forrest became the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan after the war."
