This, combined with "vice signaling" (taking pride in antisocial behavior) has given us the reign of the Stupid Asshole, something most people are against, but can only be remedied if we're not too polite to talk about it
An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

blocklists might be one of the worst features of this site just because you have to place insurmountable amounts of trust in a random person operating them to not cut you off from entire networks without notice or appeal
really the only advice I can give both new and old users is don’t sub to blocklists, because people use them for revenge and trolling and you’ll end up blocking people you like 💀
Why tf? Were you added to one of these revenge blocklists? I have a bunch of folks blocking me because of those. Alas :///

bluesky's actual biggest problem is that people who think blocklists should be built into a site have the ear of the development team and that the development team is dumb enough to listen to them in the first place. That's why they keep focusing on adding more granular filters and not like, polls

Important tip for all new bsky users: Xbox is a BDS boycott target and you should tell every journalist and game dev you know to stop covering and supporting Xbox until Microsoft fully divests from Israel.

Great to see @romhack.ing back on Bluesky after getting hit by the Cookie's Bustle troll

For those new to this deeply weird story, some weirdo (nobody knows who, maybe a collector trying to bump the game's value) has been shutting down anything to even MENTION obscure 1999 adventure Cookie's Bustle

They just *mentioned* that a translation patch had been released, and that was enough to bring down a DMCA claim for piracy within hours, despite not linking to anything but a subtitle mod.

Again, for a 26-year-old game nobody knows about.

this is a little industry trick we like to call "finishing the game"
The Kirby Air Riders development team will soon disband, director Masahiro Sakurai has announced.

With the game considered content complete, Sakurai said the development team would aim for one more balance patch before putting it to rest.

The games industry brings in 300 billion dollars a year. The guy who made DOOM gets his projects canceled, the guy who made Katamari Damacy is broke, everyone in your feed is begging for a job and there are 50 new games coming out on Steam every day all going towards buying Gabe Newell's next yacht
Keita Takahashi (Katamari, Wattam, Noby Noby Boy) has moved back to Japan, and says he may be forced to quit the games industry due to To a T underperforming.

He also says he'd love to work on Katamari again, and for someone to invest in his studio.

it is terrifying and awful that this passed the House with any Dem support at all (and once again, the continued leadership support for Cuellar is unconscionable)

call your senators and make absolutely sure this dies in the Senate, lives are on the line

trans people deserve so much better
Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, and Vicente Gonzalez joined Republicans in voting to criminalize trans health care.

The bill passed only 216 to 214.

4 Republicans voted no. If they did too, it would have failed.
