The great thing about fighting games is seeing your progression in not just a single game but how it carries to other games. The fundamentals that carry you from game to game are a part of YOU not some hexadecimal code stored on a server.

if you're trying to find an aesthetic or theme for something you should pretty much always start by just slamming two concepts together and seeing what happens.

its impossible to iterate on one single point but its very easy to keep ideas coming about an interesting combination.

kinda annoyed that the cool new trend in 3d platformers is characters that can just jump 8 times in a row and clear the fucking grand canyon so all the levels are either stupidly massive or entirely skippable

indie games are in a race to the bottom to see how little substance you can give your dopamine dispenser. answer seems to be close to zero if you have half decent production value and/or apply gambling tropes """ironically""" enough.

playtesting demon dust has reinforced in me that unintuitively, its pretty hard to split people evenly in level design.

i usually find theres a path of least resistance at every fork that ~80% of players take.

its been fun to develop my skill at deliberately engineering those paths over the years.
