A solar storm the size of the Carrington Event could knock out the backbone of the Internet. Let's all focus on making the sun extremely angry.

Intro Post! Didn't know this was a thing!

I do engineering and also writing. I was born in the eldest year of millennials so I'm old and probably uncool, but I did see the Transformers (Cartoon) Movie in the theater! Also my first 2024 was 2000, and I was a month too young to vote.
I could talk about a lot of things, but I promised myself I'm not voidscreaming anymore, so instead:

The ending of Hades 2 could have been better, and I firmly believe capitalism is why it wasn't.

Regardless of parentage, 'One Headlight' was a prophetic Millennial anthem.

Hi, I'm back, I think.

Finished a nine month hell-tour of moving my family out of a place that was becoming less safe to a place that is hopefully more stable.

Backness somewhat predicated on borders and my need to cross them.

No. There is no argument that could be made for this because whatever corpus you trained the machine on would spit out Black history as understood through whiteness.
In light of this, is there an argument to create AI's and LLM's that actually can helps save / preserve Black history culture?

And I'm not talking about digital Blackface chatbots.

Honored to have my firefly footage and photographs included in this True Facts episode highlighting the critical importance of firefly conservation. Thanks @zefrank.bsky.social for including me (and thanks to @alexwild.bsky.social for recommending my work!). This is a must-watch! ✨

Finished another book. I don't know if any of the books we finished in the last few years will ever really be published, much less be read, but I am grateful to have worked on them. I am glad they exist.

Too many people desperately want the chance to just write and never get it.

I'm with Kelly here: deeply interested in leftism as a political project but have no interest whatsoever in leftism as a subculture. the stakes of leaving this behind are hopefully clearer by the day
Saw someone say, "End your friendships with people who are going about life like nothing is wrong." I will never understand people who think that further isolating ourselves from everyday people who don't get it is going to save us. It's not. Your judgment and disdain will not save us.

Hell yeah. Hold the line. This is what we need people to do.

Slow things down, don’t comply in advance so the courts have time to stop them. It’s starting to work.
Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

Over on the other site Elon Musk said that DOGE stopped $50M of condoms from being delivered to Gaza which Trump the repeated several times but it turns out that was the number for all contraceptive support from USAID everywhere on Earth, of which none went to Palestinians.

Idgaf I’m still fighting for guaranteed healthcare.

Aspiration is the answer. Not just “we’re not the bad guys.”

We need something more meaningful than that. I want a future worth fighting for. They have no vision. We do. Lean into our strengths and knock them out. 👊🏽

Ok while this may not work for everybody you could try eating some nerds gummy clusters and reading about the mummified vicar Nicolaus Rungius. As a treat

Again, more about this later but also let's be smart enough not to support Greenwald-type "independent journalists" this time. (Yes, I gave money to his blog in 2006 or so.)

As a friend to an Orange, Jorts is my guide at all times.
A lot of this stuff is a lie. Most of the rest of it won’t stick.

But I understand lot of it won’t quite feel solid for a while, and that’s because it turns out there isn’t anything protecting the stuff we have been taking for granted. We can change that but I know it’s scary
