I had seen the "hold me in contempt so I can sleep" line, but the whole transcript is striking. Julie Le she tried to quit but then stayed so she could get more people OUT of detention; and expressed concern that her own family might get picked up.

And if you still don’t want to call it fascism, but you’re putting your body or your wellbeing on the line, turning what heart and skills toward stopping it, whatever it’s called, I think you’re great & I’m glad we’re on the same side. 2/3

If you’re just figuring out now that yes, it really is fascism, that’s fantastic & I think you’re great & I’m glad we’re on the same side. I don’t need to scold you. My desire for “told-ya-so” is as useless as your denial was. Let’s move on together to the fight at hand, each as we feel called. 1/2

Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.

"That's fine, dude. I'm not mad." Renee Good's last words to the ICE officer who killed her as she followed contradictory orders. The administration immediately painted this mom as a domestic terrorist. An outrageous lie and one more reason Congress must be remove them.

“If you resort to violence, all of us who believe in our legal and political system—Democrats and Republicans—will stand together. We will condemn you, and we will prosecute you.”

My message after last year's shooting of Trump: Zero tolerance for political violence. I'm sorry it has to be repeated.

Alas Biden was more progressive than much of the country wanted. Early polling showed he was governing more liberally than half of the country wanted. YouGov found only 18% of Americans consider progressive to describe them well. 16% for liberal.
Biden was MORE conservative than many would like him to have been, myself included. He's certainly not fascist or even fully "right wing" in the fashion that Trump is; but he's definitely more centrist than say Warren or Sanders, even as he was persuadable to the left while governing.

I do not care that you are not “surprised.” Please. You have no idea how tiresome it is when you post that something horrible, fascist, authoritarian is “not surprising.” Nothing is “surprising” anymore. But a lot of it is horrible and frightening. Let’s deal with it together.

We know how to staff up agencies and reform the civil service. Stuff like that is elemental to what it means to live in a republic. The MUCH bigger challenge will be convincing independent entities we're worth cooperating with. But we can do that, too, if we make it a unifying priority.
