Regular reminder that the USPS is supposed to lose money. It’s a public service. That it should turn a profit is a perversion of its purpose deliberately engineered by conservatives over the last half century to harm the very people who often vote for them — the poor and working class.
The USPS faces a tight squeeze. With fewer people using the mail, it’s lost more and more money: $9 billion in the 12 months ending in September alone.
