It is BINDING for three terms - so if it fails, no Māori ward for nearly a decade.

And EVERYONE votes, not just Māori. Tāngata Tiriti step up, Pākehā mā, you need to vote.

I have had two full days of travel nightmares in the last week, 11 and 12.5 hours respectively for a 3.5 hour trip. BUT I got to cuddle my new GREAT nephew. The great just means I'm extra good at this Aunty gig right?

Shane Te Pou's Herald piece on national's voter suppression says "You’ve been able to enrol up to the day before election day since 1993". This is wrong. You've been able to do it since 1954. National is trying to turn the clock back over 70 years.

It has been a mixed week. In the best news in a generation Im officially a great Aunty! Then I tested positive for my second round of covid. Oh and I achieved a big work thing that also makes it very clear how much there is still to do. Isolating for a couple of days should give me time to process 😅

Andrew is literally NZ's pre-eminent expert on electoral law. His view on this should be taken incredibly seriously.

At absolute minimum, the BOR vet for the proposed change must be released immediately to see what official advice is & so that advice + govt's justification can be scrutinised.

If the only question we ask at elections is "am I better off now?" we'll never get a politics that thinks long term; that makes sacrifices for great causes; or that calls some to pay more in solidarity with others.

We're citizens, not customers. The left, of all movts, needs to keep that idea alive
