Very recently "voluntarily" retired public servant, geoscientist, public lands in public hands, not alt-anything.
I did abandoned mine closures on the neighboring National Forest before DOGEd into "voluntary" early retirement. There are 1000's of these. It was a collateral duty to 1000's of active mining claims, exploration drilling, oil and gas, sand and gravel, geologic hazards and paleontology. All just me.

As a person who suffered a V Fib cardiac arrest and whose life was saved by coworkers who knew how to use an AED, I'd like to use Senator Fetterman's recent episode to raise awareness about this condition and to thank those who saved him, even if conditions surrounding it were Abbie Normal.

It's my understanding that beef prices are high due to the meat packing industry not domestic supply. No surprise he is undercutting American producers to help meat packers. Consumer prices won't go down regardless. They'll keep voting for him all the way to foreclosure.

Numbers quoted say net reduction from this plant is roughly 2 traincars of carbon in 13 months (net 205 tons). If it works at full capacity it would be about 100 train cars/yr or a single trainload. About 1 day of coal consumption at a single thermal coal power plant.

I think RFK Jr. is on to something with the mitochondira. He is so awful that all mothers since time immemorial cry out in unison at the cellular level for the safety of their sons and daughters, as if the Venus of Willendorf herself is taking all of her children by the hand and crossing the street.
WTF RFK Jr.: "I know what a healthy child is supposed to look like. I’m looking at kids as I walk through the airports today...and I see these kids that are just overburdened with mitochondrial challenges...and I know that’s not how our children are supposed to look."

The 1872 mining law has resulted in high-grading of valuable deposits of non-renewable resources. We need big changes to extract these minerals, with a focus on re-mining "mature" deposits to turn environmental liabilities into assets. I have little hope the grifter-congressional complex can do it.
The United States is home to dozens of active mines. Some extract copper, while others dig for iron.

Whatever the resource, however, it usually makes up a small fraction of the rock pulled from the ground. The rest is typically ignored. Wasted.

From our friends at @grist.org:
America's mines are literally throwing away critical metals
There’s enough lithium in a year's worth of waste to produce 10 million EV batteries.

Please comment to save public scoping of actions on National Forests. I worked for BLM and Forest Service for 2+ decades. There are many valid critiques of the NEPA process. This won't solve any of them, but will result in half baked projects that cause harm, only to subsequently fail anyway.
If you're seeing this post, PLEASE click through to the Dept. of Agriculture website, the parent agency of the Forest Service, and submit remarks NOW to prevent destruction of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and preserve our ability to scope federal public land actions — like logging!
Stop the Gutting of Forest Service Transparency Obligations
The Forest Service's obligations to transparency and environmental sustainability have been gutted. Speak out against these changes by Aug. 4th!
