A&E waiting times are shocking. Over 50,000 people in England waited more than 12 hours in November, after the decision to admit. But that has been the case for each of the last 3 winters! And the system is failing to recover in the summer.

We need to acknowledge the systemic issue, not blame flu.

The obscene, performative cruelty against the world's most vulnerable people will continue until Britain is great again.
Dismal framing. Every aspect of most asylum seekers’ lives is controlled & paid for by the Home Office. They can’t work, are told where to live & have no autonomy or dignity. So they aren’t *choosing* to use taxis & don’t need to be “banned” from doing so. The HO just needs to get its act in order.
Government to ban asylum seekers from using taxis
The ban is set to come in February and any exemptions will have to be signed off by the Home Office.

It is IMO not possible to operate any kind of meaningful democracy when your national press is a joke and a travesty, but your mileage on that may vary. I think it’s incontestable that it is impossible to govern well and effectively, while being in hock to these pantomime clowns.

In 2016, following the Leave vote, Angela Eagle resigned from Jeremy Corbyn's cabinet in tears, stating in her resignation letter that, "Too many of our supporters were taken in by right-wing arguments and I believe this happened, in part, because [of] your leadership"
Govt minister Angela Eagle is asked what her message is to people on the streets shouting "get this scum off our streets" & holding banners saying 'protecting women & children is not far right, its just right'

In her reply Eagle says "we hear your worries"

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.
Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

I remember when my parents had to tighten their belts. Our low household interest rates were slowing economic activity, so their central bank purchased household bonds to increase the household money supply. But they overcorrected and caused high household inflation.😔

Writing is also a skill that is highly undervalued. What I mean by that is, everyone wants a good writer. Good writers are literal anchors in a storm. But no one wants to pay one decently, or pay for the programs that produce good writers.

People want to pretend that good writing just happens.
So many people have a disdain for writing for the exact reason why AI isn’t a solution for it: it requires careful consideration of language, context, audience, genre, purpose, etc. Those who believe such a human act can be relegated to a computer program fundamentally misunderstand what writing is.

This fantastic doc was a huge influence on me as a burgeoning film buff in the 90s. The remastered version is unofficial so well worth watching before it gets DMCA'd.
So the seminal documentary about cinematography 1992’s VISIONS OF LIGHT has been HD remastered and is on Vimeo vimeo.com/497115013
