Question that needs to be asked and answered: "If this was an 'arrest operation,' as in law enforcement, then how do you feel about 40 civilians being killed in the process?"
STEPHANOPOULOS: Why wasn't congressional authorization necessary?

RUBIO: It wasn't necessary because this was not an invasion. We didn't occupy a country. This was an arrest operation.

The other thing about Rob Schneider blaming his middling career on being a conservative is that Chris Pratt is a pretty open Republican, and he’s in fucking everything now.

Maybe you’re just a shitty actor.

One port, one cable, one Europe.

This holiday, unwrap the power of one: USB-C for all.

Yes, not just phones, tablets, and laptops. In three years, every charger will be under the same tree.

Because less waste, smarter choices, mean more for everyone, all year long.

Fighting with each other whether the Trump administration is/is not fascist/totalitarian seems kind of pointless. Labels aside, it is not a fully consolidated dictatorshp, whatever we want to call it and we need to work together to get them out.

Since the election of Obama, a huge portion of the US right has decided that they want to secede from what the US had become--a religiously and culturally pluralistic, multi-racial democracy. They consider themselves to be the victims of a nation thusly constituted and they want "our country back."

So the U.S. military just blew up 11 people on the open sea in an extrajudicial massacre, saying they were dangerous drug traffickers but offering no court prior evidence to claim such. And other military units are patrolling U.S. cities with guns and no training in criminal procedure. Cool, cool.

Dearest Martha,

The National Guard stand solemn watch at the Krispy Kreme tonight. I cannot tell if they defend the people from the donuts, or the donuts from the people. Powdered sugar hangs in the air like cannon smoke. Jensen took a hot coffee to the face, he may never recover.

Yours in glaze,

The White House has a secret blacklist of U.S. companies — basically based on how loudly they praise Trump, according to Axios.

I know folks are nervous about the word “authoritarian.”

But a “loyalty scorecard” sounds pretty damn authoritarian to me.

When tariffs were “maybe,” firms waited. The pause is over, and the tariffs are here. So finally, by August, businesses will be pushed to choose—absorb costs, reprice, or re-source. Expect consumers to really start to see price hikes over the next few months as the fog lifts and the invoices arrive.
