This is so deeply at odds with the vision and history of America. Take pretty much any ethnic or racial group that are part of the American mosaic America today - they have all faced the same accusation. The moment these accusations are turned into policy are some of the most shameful in US history

This is heartbreakingly cruel and hypocritical. The same admin that has redefined refugee status to cover white South Africans is now going to drown thousands of refugees already approved for their status in red tape, potentially even seeking to strip some of their status and deport them.
Trump Admin planning a rule to re-decide whether *every* refugee who entered under Biden meets their criteria for a refugee. That’s 230,000 people! And no appeals!

One point worth emphasizing here: The punditry has been saying Sherrill (and Spanberger) represent the sane centrist wing of the party versus the left. Well, okay, but here Sherrill is urging more fight. Again, the results show that anti-Trump + affordability can *unite* the party. This shows how.
This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

Still upset about no power of the purse language. You truly do hate to see it. The Trump admin undertook the most expansive set of illegal budgetary actions of any president in history, and broadcast as loudly as possible they’d keep doing it, and nothing. Budgetary lawlessness.

It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.

If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means.

Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

We got Trump 2.0 because voters didnt know how bad Trump is bad at governing because Dems intervened to help during Covid and Trump got credit.

Stop helping him.
"More than enough" Senate Democratic Caucus members to pass shutdown deal led by Shaheen, King and Hassan, source familiar with deal says

- CR through Jan. 30
- ACA bill vote on bill of Dems' choosing in December
- Minibus has RIF reversals and "protections" against them in future

Please note this: Raising the "salience" of immigration actually worked in Dems' favor in one of the most important swing counties in the country. This is more grist for the idea that attacking Trump is succeeding among the nonwhite working class (see thread below).

really important element of this basically total victory is that it puts the fear of god in republican incumbents and may bring the redistricting push to a total halt

"In short, if Trump and Kennedy are going to divide the country over public health, Democrats should polarize the living heck out of this debate as well—but on *their* terms." YES
Trump/RFK are decapitating our public health system, a pillar of American greatness. So Dem Govs should scour every corner of the law for creative new ways to defend their people from this madness.

Dems should polarize this debate to the max.

Thoughts on this here:

Pick an issue. Trump will be underwater on it. He's dropped like 15-20 percent in the last four months on *immigration* for gods sake. Treating him like he's strong is doing him a favor. This is an extremely weak president.

I do not understand why government officials resign when asked to do something bad.

The resignations will no longer be treated by the public like a scandal. It’ll be out of the news within 24 hours. People should stay and force the White House to fire them.

Do not make it easy.

I am begging my fellow Dems to emerge from the reflexive “it’s a trap” position on these issues and realize that some things are very simple: the public doesn’t like the federal government turning the military against its own citizens. The public doesn’t like the armed occupation of a city.Period.
Striking: New Quinnipiac poll finds 56% of voters nationally oppose Trump's sending of National Guard into DC. Only 41% support it.

Independents oppose it by 61-34.

Trump's overall approval on crime is cratering at 42-54.

That sound you hear is a lot of dimwitted pundit narratives imploding.

The New Deal, Great Society, Obamacare—the same pattern holds: bold laws that help people are popular, and Republicans know they repeal them at their political peril.
