I’m so sorry for Lisa’s family who are now going through some of the worst pain imaginable. We are failing so many families with unsafe driving and roads.

I’ve been through rock springs and learned about its tragic history. So glad that they have expanded the memorial and are not trying to just erase the painful history. We need more of this.

Immigration authorities are continuing to patrol with D.C. police weeks after the expiration of President Trump’s federal takeover, leaving some local leaders and residents alarmed about D.C. police’s role in immigration enforcement.

We're grateful for @cmcharlesallen.bsky.social's leadership to author and pass the STEER Act and for @dcattorneygeneral.bsky.social's role in addressing the most reckless drivers on DC streets. 💛

We're also looking fwd to DC and VA's implementation of anti-speeding tech (ISA) to ensure safer speeds
NEW: We won our first court judgment against a dangerous out-of-state driver under the STEER Act.

The Court ordered Ayanna Khalya Wilson to pay $77,100 for over 200 dangerous driving violations.

We also filed 12 new lawsuits against Maryland and Virginia drivers with nearly 2,000 traffic offenses.

Wasn't this one the hypotheticals in the supreme court cases on presidential immunity that was deemed too far fetched: That the president would be immune from criminal charges if he openly used to his powers to illegally kill civilians or political opponents? I guess we got there pretty quickly...
“if he can order the Navy to operate as a presidential hit squad on the high seas, any number of grim hypotheticals could become reality sooner than Americans might expect,” @radiofreetom.bsky.social argues:

Apparently this IS a (somewhat unconventional) ghost bike, missing a plaque, for Constance Holden, who was killed at that intersection in 2010
It is a ghost bike memorial for Constance Holden. I believe installed as a project by @waba.org but the plaque is missing.

It is dangerous for the National Guard to be deployed in residential areas — for people here, for Guard members themselves, and for the communities back home which they are supposed to serve.

Armored tactical vehicles should not be on city streets.
