The proposed cuts to the Washington Post Metro Section should alarm every DC resident.

Local Post reporters play an indispensable role informing the public, elevating community voices, covering crises, and holding power to account.

The Washington Post should cover Washington. #SaveThePost

“In D.C, legal accountability for prevailing wage violations extends all the way up the contracting chain — if your company or any of its subcontractors are underpaying workers, all of you can be held accountable.”

Child support payments should support children.

That is the driving principle for a set of reforms to the District's child support system that we are proposing.

Once enacted, some of DC's most vulnerable families will get precious dollars that previously funded operational costs.
New D.C. Proposal Sends Every Child Support Dollar to Families, Not Government
The Child Support Improvement Amendment Act of 2026 aims to ensure that child support payments go directly to the children and families in need.

Today, I proudly introduced a bill to reform our child support system to make sure child support payments are fully going into the pockets of the families they are intended to help.
Thank you @dcattorneygeneral.bsky.social & @cmfrumin.bsky.social for your partnership on this important bill.

NEW: We are proposing long-overdue reforms to the District's child support system.

These reforms will ensure that every cent parents pay in child support directly benefits kids — not fund operational costs.

Once implemented, vulnerable families in DC will get a much-needed increase in support.

So many of the rights DC residents have today were made possible by Eleanor Holmes Norton — our Warrior on the Hill.

No one has done more to move the District closer to self-governance, equality, and full representation.

Rep. @eleanornorton.bsky.social, thank you for your leadership and service.

From DC DHS: Temperatures are dropping to dangerous lows, and heavy snow is on the way. There is shelter space for anyone who needs it, and the District is asking everyone to come inside.

Call the Shelter Hotline to request free transportation to a DC shelter: 202-399-7093 or 311.

DC, everyone should have heat on days like today! ❄️

If you're a renter and your heat is out, submit a maintenance request and call our free Consumer Protection hotline at 202-442-9828.

We can also help if any of your utilities are disconnected, and the utilities are the landlord’s responsibility.

We're disturbed by evidence X's AI Chatbot "Grok" enabled users to create explicit deepfake images of real people without their consent — including children.

Our bipartisan 35-AG coalition is demanding X take additional measures to curb this abuse.

AI must never be used to sexually exploit others.

NEW: We are permanently shutting down two nonprofits that exploited DC kids and misled residents.

Maryland Youth Club and Virginia Youth Club recruited children from low-income neighborhoods to sell candy door-to-door to fund fake scholarships.

Instead, executives illegally pocketed the money.

The energy at the 2026 MLK Holiday Peace Walk and Parade was unmatched!

Dr. King taught us that any great community leads with love and compassion.

A positive 2025 trend: safer DC streets.

In our first year enforcing the STEER Act against dangerous out-of-state drivers, DC traffic deaths dropped by 52% in 2025 — a 13-year low.

Alongside DDOT, MPD, DMV, and DPW, we are making our streets safer for all. We will build on this progress in 2026.
