Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our Ward 4 neighbor, pastor, and community leader, Rev. Graylan Hagler.

Rev. Hagler believed, as we do in Ward 4, that our neighborhoods are worthy of dignity, investment, and love, and fought to make that vision real.

I've been hearing lots of complaints about high Pepco bills recently, and D.C. councilmembers are sharing the pain.

"I just got an $1,100 Pepco bill so I am beyond pissed with utilities right now. My house is at 68 degrees," said @robertwhitedc.bsky.social.

For @cmlewisgeorgew4.bsky.social: $899.

Heartbroken to learn of the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson. From the Civil Rights Movement to championing economic justice & voting rights, Rev. Jackson never stopped pushing for Black liberation & dignity. His voice lifted up DC’s fight for statehood & opportunity for families across our country.

Devastated by the news of this traffic collision on Georgia Ave, Upshur Street, and Kansas Ave. MPD has reported there was a fatality. My team and I are in touch with FEMS and MPD and are working to get more information as it becomes available. Holding the victims and their loved ones in my prayers.
Intersection of Upshur, Kansas & Ave by Library is closed at the moment. At least 2 people injured in what looks like a traffic collision between an electric bike & maybe a vehicle. 1 person rushed off in ambulance & one appears unfortunately deceased. No other details. (photos from bystander)

This is exactly the kind of accountability tenants have been asking for—combating slumlords who are making millions off neglect and fraud while worsening DC's housing crisis.

Grateful to OAG for using every tool available to hold these landlords accountable and protect DC tenants.
BREAKING: We are filing an unprecedented civil RICO lawsuit to dismantle a fraudulent slumlord empire in DC.

The Razjooyans spun a web of brazen fraud and severe housing neglect that exploits tenants, lenders, and the District — and worsens DC's housing crisis.

We will shut it down.

This week, I joined my colleagues in calling on the Mayor to protect human services funding in the FY27 budget.

At a time when too many families are struggling with rising costs, we cannot balance this budget on the backs of our most vulnerable neighbors.

Hearing directly from neighbors about the investments you want to see prioritized is essential to building a DC budget that works for everyone.

To every resident who joined my budget forums yesterday, thank you for your time, your feedback, and your continued engagement.

Next week will be another busy week of performance oversight hearings!

Oversight works best when residents share their experiences with District agencies—what’s working, what’s not, and where change is needed.

Ten days after the snowstorm, residents across Ward 4 and the District are still facing unsafe conditions that should have been addressed days ago.

I am calling on Mayor Bowser and relevant agencies to take immediate action to resolve the ongoing snow and ice hazards in our neighborhoods.

We fought hard to deliver a locally funded Child Tax Credit for families struggling with the cost of living in DC.

Now, House Republicans have passed a measure that pulls that support and undermines our tax code. DC families deserve better, and we won't stop fighting to keep money in their pockets.
This week the House is expected to vote on a resolution that would repeal a D.C. bill that decoupled the city's tax code from some of the tax changes Republicans made last year. City officials say that if it passes Congress, it would cost D.C. $600 million over four years.

🎓 Higher education should be in reach for every DC student—not decided by high-interest private loans.

Today, I introduced the DC Student Loan Authority Establishment Act, creating a public, affordable option for students and a way to refinance existing education debt.
