Today colleagues and I approved an increased earned income tax credit & re-established a child tax credit. At a time when the Mayor’s budget was balanced on the backs of working families @cmzparker5.bsky.social & @cmfrumin.bsky.social found a way to undo some of that damage.

Cutting off SNAP benefits that thousands of DC residents depend on to feed their families is cruel, unjust, and unnecessary.
The federal government is choosing to let children and seniors go hungry. I am grateful to Attorney General Schwalb for standing up to stop this unlawful action.

NEW: We just filed a lawsuit alongside 25 states to restore SNAP food assistance during the federal shutdown.
141,000 DC residents rely on SNAP to afford their meals — including 47,000 children and 24,000 seniors.
We will do everything in our power to prevent DC families from going hungry.
