I wrote an article for @petworthnews.org about a 911 dispatch mistake in Petworth this summer and how it is a part of an ongoing series of serious dispatch mistakes that are intentionally not being investigated. If you expect 911 to work in an emergency, 8+ minute delays are dangerous.

FYI... 🚧 Taylor St NW between Kansas and 13th will be a bit of a mess as DDOT repairs sidewalks, curbs, gutters and wheelchair ramps. Necessary work, to be sure!

Work begins Monday, 12/8 - Saturday, 12/13 (7am to 6pm). The project is expected to be complete by December 19th (weather permitting).

The Petworth Library will close for renovations on Dec 11th, with a goal to maintain the existing facility & ensure the library continues to meet evolving neighborhood needs. Interim services will be offered at the Mt. Pleasant Library or by US Mail.

In July, a Petworth resident called 911 for a medical emergency. Luckily, FEMS 24 is only 2 blocks away, help should have been there fast. That didn’t happen: OUC sent the call to the wrong address. These mistakes cost time, property damage & potentially lives.
