We stand united against all 13 anti–DC Home Rule bills in Congress.

DC is home to more than 700,000 residents who pay taxes, run businesses, and serve in the military. Like all Americans, we deserve the right to set our own local laws.

Congress should reject this unprecedented federal overreach.

We are excited to announce the honorees of our 2025 Right Direction Awards! 🏅

This year's theme was "District Youth Leading by Example."

Each of these 26 young people has lived out that ethos by practicing determination, leadership, and resilience.

They represent the best of DC and our future.

Today, we are testifying at the DC Council in support of the SOUL Act introduced by @cmzparker5.bsky.social.

Right now, more than half of young people in DC's foster system age out of foster care without a permanent plan, such as family reunification, adoption, or legal guardianship.

Temperatures in DC are expected to dip below freezing tonight for the first time this year! ❄️

Landlords are required to keep heating equipment working and able to maintain at least 68°F.

If your heat is not working, please make a maintenance request and call OAG: 202-442-9828

NEW: We secured a $41 million judgment over appalling conditions at Marbury Plaza in Ward 8.

For years, 2,500 tenants endured mold, leaks, rodents, and a lack of heat, AC, and hot water — while the old owner defied court orders to fix it.

This is the largest DC housing conditions judgment ever.

Today, we returned to court to continue our fight to end the unlawful and indefinite deployment of the National Guard to DC.

Armed soldiers should not be policing American citizens on American soil.

And no city in America should be subject to involuntary military occupation.

NEW: A developer who illegally drained DC wetlands and polluted DC waters will pay $200,000 in penalties.

During construction, RKP installed 200+ groundwater extraction wells — damaging protected wetlands by the Anacostia River.

We also secured the permanent conservation of the remaining wetlands.

It is a powerful reminder that indigenous peoples have inhabited this area for thousands of years — a history, culture, and presence that endures today.

On Indigenous Peoples Day, we honor the Piscataway, the Nacotchtank (Anacostans), and all who first called this place home.
October 13, 2025 at 12:38 PM
Long before becoming the District of Columbia, these lands were home to indigenous peoples.

Native American artifacts have been found all over DC, including Rock Creek Park, Anacostia, the Arboretum, Van Ness, the Palisades, Capitol Hill, and even the White House.

Every year, our Right Direction Awards celebrate exceptional young people in DC. 🏅

LULAC always shows up for for DC!

Thank you DC LULAC for inviting me to speak about OAG's efforts to hold slumlords accountable, protect Washingtonians from financial exploitation, and make sure workers are paid what they're owed.

As the Nation’s Capital, DC has always partnered with the federal government to drive down crime.

But sending masked agents to take people off our streets, flooding our neighborhoods with armed soldiers, and attempting a federal takeover of MPD — these are not lasting solutions for making DC safer.

Washington Gas will also face ongoing monitoring by the District and heavy penalties for any non-compliance.

In recent years, DC has made critical progress in reducing pollution in the Anacostia River.

We will keep working tirelessly alongside our communities for a clean and healthy Anacostia.
September 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM
We alleged Washington Gas failed to take adequate steps to curb this pollution.

Under our new settlement, Washington Gas will install:

✅ Riverbed filters to prevent pollutants' release
✅ Floating boom to contain water surface pollution
✅ Shoreline barrier to neutralize soil contaminants

Despite the consent decree, DOEE and OAG recently uncovered evidence of ongoing pollution at the site.

Toxic chemicals — byproducts of gas manufacturing at East Station — are bubbling up from the contaminated riverbed and seeping into the river from the polluted shoreline.
September 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM
Washington Gas operated East Station on the banks of the Anacostia for nearly a century.

The gas plant created toxic byproducts that contaminated the soil and seeped into the river — endangering local communities.

The company entered into a consent decree with DC in 2012 to address the pollution.
September 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM
NEW: Washington Gas will take new measures to stop ongoing pollution of the Anacostia River.

After the company failed to prevent toxic chemicals at its former East Station gas plant from polluting the river, DOEE and OAG stepped in.

We will always fight to protect DC's rivers.

📌 DC laws should be written by people who know how DC works.
September 18, 2025 at 6:00 PM
DC is made up of vibrant communities and hard-working people who are the backbone of our culture and economy.

We are small business owners, veterans, teachers, nurses, police officers, and civil servants.

We are Americans who deserve the same freedom to govern ourselves that other Americans enjoy.
September 18, 2025 at 3:39 PM
DC residents pay more federal taxes per capita than any state and fought and died in our nation's wars.

We deserve the right to set our local laws and an independent Attorney General who is accountable to the people of DC.

I wrote in strong opposition to 13 anti–DC Home Rule bills in Congress.

Once the fraud is discovered, Athena gives victims no recourse to recover their money.

It tells victims all their money is unrecoverable while holding on to up to 26% of the money as the fee they collected and could return.

It also misrepresents its refund policy at every step.
September 8, 2025 at 1:01 PM
Athena knows that its fraud protections do not work.

Scammers keep victims on the phone to easily bypass Athena's ineffective warnings.

Athena also hides from liability by requiring users to "pledge ownership" of the Bitcoin wallet — often with no understanding of what that means.
