We’ve filed two more unfair labor practice cases against @baltimoresun.bsky.social, which has been refusing to bargain with us for over 4 months — instead choosing to threaten our members with new union-busting policies.

Baltimore deserves better. We won’t be silenced.

Is the Chief's stadium deal the largest public subsidy ever offered. When looking only at stadium capital construction costs, I say yes. But when you throw in everything else, @gpropheter.bsky.social says it's still not as bad as the Commanders giveaway. It's bad. www.kansascity.com/news/local/a...
Is Chiefs’ Kansas stadium deal the largest ever offered? What experts say
With some caveats, the Kansas City Chiefs stand to receive more public dollars for their stadium than any other professional sports team in the U.S. or Canada has before, an expert said.

Lol @mayorbowser.dc.gov and the DC Council who are still record-holders at bad deal making.

They've been doing it all over and the Metro board looks the other way. Randy Clarke denied any officers were masked at the very again masked federal cops were yanking people off buses the day before.
Hey @wmatagm.bsky.social — why is MTPD collaborating with Feds in the CoHi station for fare enforcement?? This is unreasonable and unnecessary. This needs to stop. #FamiliesNotFeds

Mayor for Porsche drivers, not for bus riders.
They got rid of the extended sidewalk at this bus stop on M Street in Georgetown and this is what happens now every single day.

One thing that hasn't been part of the discussion is that even in testing, Waymos are making the public fast charging infrastructure in DC almost impossible to use. They clog up charging stations, sometimes a dozen at a time, but the company doesn't build their own infrastructure.

2. What he says about climate is patently false (more on that later) but to the extent he's saying "politicians shouldn't do the right thing unless it's popular", I'd note only that that is a toddlers view of leadership. If the popular kids are mean, should you be mean?

This is horrific. RFK Jr’s CDC is funding a study in Guinea-Bissau which would involve deliberately withholding the hepatitis B vaccine from hundreds of newborn infants, putting them at great risk of death. They want to repeat Tuskegee.

Why would a political writer keep arguing that Dems should go along with Trump’s harsh immigration crackdown, cruelty to trans people, and climate change-worsening stances as politically necessary, no matter what public opinion data shows?

One logical answer is the writer agrees with those stances.
matt & co’s theory of how public opinion on immigration would respond to new information was simply empirically wrong.
at this point the only reasonable conclusion is they refuse to update their priors w/ new data because the data is inconvenient for them

DC's council spent the last year or so ruthlessly crushing every DC small local business selling recreational weed, they caused all that needless harm for nothing in the end 💀
Interesting: Trump may just have legalized recreational weed sales in D.C.

A congressional rider has banned those sales in D.C. since 2015. But it specifically references Schedule I drugs, which weed was. With Trump rescheduling marijuana, the rider may no longer apply.

A few other names I've heard passed around:
Jamie Sycamore
Kathy Henderson
David Grosso
Jess Giles
Branden Givand
Chander Jayaraman
Alex Padro
Shareece Crawford
Charles Wilson
Ed Lazere
Another name to add to the list: @zachisrael.bsky.social, an ex-Ward 4 ANC, who's earned the support of some other ANCs and activists.

A caveat for all these names, though: Mendelson seems to holding his intentions for this appointment very close to the vest right now.
The rumor mill is spinning fast and furious already: Megan Browder, a Legal Aid DC exec/former deputy AG, is in the running, per sources. She wouldn't run for the seat, positioning herself as a nonpartisan expert.

I also hear Vincent Orange is telling people he's interested...

In August 2016, Judge Richard Leon stopped Purple Line construction, on grounds that Maryland had not conducted an adequate survey of the environmental impacts. (A US Court of Appeals judge overruled him in December 2017.)

Clear evidence that McDuffie continues to have no beliefs or unifying desire or plan, just an amoral attachment to power. I want to be Ward 5 CM, no AG, no at-large CM, no Mayor, I'm die hard Democrat, no an independent, no a Democrat.
NEWS: At-Large Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie says he will be resigning from the D.C. Council on January 5, 2026. That's in preparation for his run for mayor, since he will be changing his party affiliation to Democrat and he's currently in an At-Large seat reserved for non-Democrats.
