Star Wars (1977): A lone hero (Greedo) helps a wayward capitalist (Han Solo) escape the touchy-feely bullshit of a group of woke idiots (Luke, Obi Wan) hell-bent on harming the private property of the galaxy's wealth creators (Grand Mof Tarkin, Darth Vader).
Yes, Peter Thiel is functionally illiterate. Here’s his attempt at summarising the Star Wars plot to Maureen Dowd in 2017:

The #1 way to explain America working properly is by saying “comedians can make fun of he President on TV.” A good way to explain fascism is “the President forces companies to fire those comedians as a condition of allowing them to conduct business.”

“Their kids die of measles and they still don’t believe it.”

MSNBC Senior reporter @brandyzadrozny.bsky.social explains why the misinformation coming from RFK Jr. around vaccines is ‘cynicism,’ not ‘skepticism’. “This is an anti-vaccine activist in charge of public health” #VELSHI
RFK Jr. ‘makes a living on lawsuits that target vaccines:’ Brandy Zadrozny on HHS measles response
Measles cases have reached a 33-year high with breakouts across 39 states. Critics have called on HHS Sec. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to do more to stop the spread. Kennedy has been advocating alternatives to the MMR vaccine. MSNBC Senior Reporter Brandy Zadrozny argues this is “vaccine cynicism” coming from “a person who makes a living on lawsuits that target vaccines, an anti-vaccine activist in charge of public health,” says Zadrozny.

BREAKING: Police just surrounded Rev. William Barber, prominent activist and pastor, as he and others prayed in the U.S. Capitol Rontunda.

Police then expelled everyone (including press!) from the Rotunda to (presumably) arrest them.

I've covered protests here a lot. Never seen anything like it.

I’m sure it’s just my TDS, but I think Trump is proving to be exactly as bad as we said he was going to be and people who acted like we were hysterical should be embarrassed they didn’t do more to try and stop it.

I dislike hearing that a message didn't "work"--as in universally failed--in a circumstance where Democrats lost but such a narrow margin. Failing to reach/persuade enough voters to win is not the same as failing to reach/persuade voters more generally. It's possible quite a few were persuaded.
The second seems to be based on speculation. I haven't seen any actual evidence that voters were turned off by Democrats' talking about threats to democracy and the dangers of rightwing authoritarianism. I don't believe I heard the word "fascism" come out of the mouth of a Democratic official.

Given how many shitty columnists and columns there are in the #BrokenTimes, what's shocking about this report is that any columns there are edited...and that they made the bad choice of editing one of their last, best columnists, @pkrugman.bsky.social.

I graduated high school in 2003 and two students from my school were expelled for being pregnant.(the men weren't, tho!)

They also allowed anti-choicers to post graphic anti-abortion signs along the school grounds.

And this was a publicly funded high school here in Ontario.

Defund them now.
Fun fact. Catholic high schools used to expel(not suspend)girls who were pregnant bc they were bad for the school’s image.

The fathers stayed&their reputations were protected. Feels like we’re on a slippery slope back to that for girls in catholic schools.

The public high school had a daycare.
