This coward needs to be gone and every single one who agrees with him
MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.

My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.

Chuck Schumer is really sticking it to the people that have been calling out the Democratic gerontocracy as not having it in them anymore by going leaps and bounds beyond his younger counterparts' ability to be out of touch and unpopular.
Schumer won’t say he’ll vote for the Democratic candidate — primary was 124 days ago

Revisiting this photo as I contemplate ways I can incorporate truly accessible alt text to give more than just generic descriptions of images. I'm always left feeling like I need higher word limits, but do people want to read that much? I never seem to get feedback or many views so it's hard to know

These words might carry some more weight if Jeffries didn't have an equally direct hand in sending billions of dollars to a right wing war criminal in Israel while running cover for their genocidal onslaught and illegal annexation. This is why Democrats remain unpopular
Jeffries: "Do what leaders do as opposed to being missing in actio for 28 days while finding $40b to bail out a right-wing wannabe dictator in Argentina & destroying the historic parts of the WH so he can construct a ballroom where he'll be celebrated like a wannabe king. It's all outrageous stuff."

This article ticks all the boxes of media malpractice in framing an illegal & dangerous act that killed someone in the most passive way. The worst part is that someone broke the law and killed someone, and the police filed no charges despite dooring always being the fault of the person who opened it
Another killing on Eric Adams’ unsafe streets. A driver flung open the door into the path of a cyclist without looking (which is illegal). Moreover, there is no protected bike lane on that street. Drivers are increasingly aggressive and murderous when we take the lane. All bad.

Today I rode the train to work for the first time since I was recovering from a bike crash in July 2023, and I left my earbuds at work so I couldn't even take part in my favorite activity of sleepy jams on the train! 😂

I have Chilean aunts and uncles that are my mother's cousins. Learning that Mamdani's culture bears the same family dynamics is an avenue for solidarity, and it is bizarre for a "pressing" like this to take place on a network that broadcasts in Spanish.
In a bit of a tense moment, one of the La Mega co-hosts presses Mamdani on why he "lied" about his "aunt" having been scared to ride the subway after 9/11 while wearing a hijab.

Mamdani says it was "not a lie" because he refers to his father's cousin as his "aunt."

We have an answer to the first question since it's not a new problem: You have to be determined, tough, & lucky, or have wealthy parents to subsidize your life/work, aka very lucky. Another question is: What shows in the quality of art/music/culture when this is the barrier for sustainability?
who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.

As Cuomo & crew lean even more into hate and bigotry, the New York Times also further welds itself to its commitment to fence sitting as it presents racist phrases as things "often used as an insult by the right" rather than simply for what they are.

I feel like my wholesome posts get seen by no one, and my commitment to alt text is largely unnoticed, and my efforts to recognize and build mutual interest community isn't working on Bluesky. Far less effort gets me much more interaction on threads and I'd rather not be there 😂
Hey quick tip: you’ll have more success communicating with strangers on here if you’re not a weirdly aggressive and offputting little freak that no one likes

Obviously there is so much more to be mad about these days, but it will never not be funny to me that these morons always preach about the "beauty of neo-classicist" architecture, which was all based off the idea that everything in Rome was white, when in reality, Rome probably looked tacky AF.

Seeing families riding together is always a highlight for me on my commutes, and I've appreciated the increase in population over the years!
Shoutout to all the moms and dads in NYC who are biking or walking their kids to school every day. You are making the city a less hostile, noisy, dangerous and polluted place for your children while spending time with them.
