Hakeem Jeffries is so incompetent that he actually helped tee up a way to make the president look like a likeable, sane person while he almost singlehandedly destroys the entire fucking country every day.

Basically, an FBI agent went “undercover” by reaching out to an extremely transparent group of regular people and saying “hey I’d like to observe asylum hearings too.” Then they got added to the public/unvetted chat where people discuss doing a totally
legal thing… observing court hearings.

🧵/
A “joint situational information report” from the FBI and the New York police department (NYPD), dated 28 August 2025, quoted from a chat on Signal, the encrypted messaging app, and also characterized the court watchers as “anarchist violent extremist actors.”

What ICE did to this family is abhorrent.

Also, given that the mayor plans to keep the current police commissioner once he is sworn in, she should probably instruct NYPD to stop being so friendly with ICE every time they're seen together.

They tried aiding them in Bensonhurst last night too...

Workers at The Met are trying to unionize, citing “long-term pay inequities, lack of job protection, and ever-increasing workloads.” If they succeed, their union would be one of the largest museum unions in the US.

Why the fuck does he still get to teach there?!!!

And his “statement of regret” was anything but. He just regrets he got caught… again.

Today there was an attempted ICE raid in Bensonhurst & community members showed up. Even though NYPD collaborated with ICE by trying to disburse the crowd; community members stood their ground & ICE left without kidnapping a single person per the rapid response groups I'm on. We protect us!

Um, no you fucking aren’t.

And they didn’t even take away his job! He just gets to “gracefully step back.”

Meanwhile 4 CUNY professors at Brooklyn College weren’t reinstated and we still don’t have a reason.

“Short bursts indicate an ICE sighting. Long whistles indicate agents making arrests. If you hear the whistle and you’re undocumented, said [Whitney Hu, a community activist and organizer with South Brooklyn Mutual Aid], ‘you hide. And if you’re somebody who’s not, you go to the street.’”
As ICE Street Raids Ramp Up, New Yorkers Stock Up On Whistles
Taking a cue from Chicago, community groups have distributed thousands of whistles in recent weeks — a grassroots system people in other cities have adopted to help neighbors sound the alarm.

This reminds me of how at the height of COVID it was revealed how much airlines had relied on “people will need to fly business class and pay exorbitant last minute prices to make in-person meetings forever and nothing will ever change that” as the majority of their revenue.
A perfect example of capitalist incentives leading to worse outcomes is checked baggage on planes.

To squeeze more money out of passengers, airlines now charge exorbitant fees for checked bags – so everyone brings carry-on rollers instead, so there’s never enough room in the overhead bins.

I genuinely believe that you must sign a form saying “I refuse to acknowledge anything that has ever been proven by history before” in order to be hired as a staff writer for the Atlantic.

Fascism thrives when people don’t fight back, Tom, you old, privileged out of touch POS.
1. If America were fascist right now, I would not be posting here. Neither would you.

Instead, I - and you - would be trying to build networks of people *offline* who can support and protect each other, in the dark, rather than yelling at the president and his stooges in our own names. /2

The documentation of what is going on, right in front of us, is vital to rebuilding when this nightmare is finally over.

Just because the dust settles on the raid that night does not mean these people’s story is over. It will be hard, but we must account for all our fellow humans affected by this.
1/ I’d like to share what’s happened since Sept. 30, the night of the most dramatic raid of the Trump administration’s Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago. Under the cover of darkness, 37 immigrants were taken from an apartment complex …🧵

First thought was “who the fuck would weigh in on this?!” Then I saw my long time ago, “socialite” PR boss R. Couri Hay was the main citation…

Himmler tried to screw Hitler over when the “walls were closing in.” So you by no means “have to hand it to her.”

I do hope they both strangle each other though and take down their entire miserable party with them while they do it.

The NYTimes hits another home run with the "Zohran & Brad are Falling Out!" article that sources nothing to back it up, AND ends up practically being a Dan Goldman endorsement congratulating him for "leading the opposition to ICE" when like... lol yeah fucking right Brad's done way more on that.

This is exactly it. Zohran will need to play nice with Kathy Hochul. If this pisses you off, good. Then help us primary her out of office in June.

Until then, don't harp on Mamdani for trying to push her gently to fulfill his platform. If we do our job, he's not going to try and save her...
I'll be beating this drum constantly between now and April:

Zohran must play nice with the governor to advance his agenda. But our task, at the grassroots, is to use Hochul's fear of losing re-election to push her incessantly and publicly.

Well done on climate, Third Act 👏
“'She did not just approve a fossil fuel project. She made a moral choice,' Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado (D), who is primarying Hochul, said on Monday. 'New Yorkers deserve a governor who does not treat the climate crisis as a PR problem, but as a test of moral leadership.'”

Well put, and depressingly relevant. I find it tedious to keep using examples from Nazi Germany to put this all into perspective too, but the Night of the Long Knives fork in the road, and how our present moment mirrors it, should be more widely known.

🗃️
Two weeks ago, I wrote about exactly this kind of behavior by Himmler in Nazi Germany. "But Himmler ignored and worked against those who opposed the camps. He rearrested a thousand of the prisoners who’d just been freed. He ordered the arrests of thousands more of those he deemed suspect."
