I think I just lost IQ points from reading the description of this book...

What ICE did to this family is abhorrent.

Also, given that the mayor plans to keep the current police commissioner once he is sworn in, she should probably instruct NYPD to stop being so friendly with ICE every time they're seen together.

They tried aiding them in Bensonhurst last night too...

There are going to be a lot of “police are quitting and not applying because they don’t want to work under a Mamdani administration!” articles.

Which will completely ignore the not insignificant amount of NYPD officers and candidates who just went to join the Secret Police instead.

I mean... it's so easy to get a response out of him that it's almost funny.

Pictured: Too many people sleep on New England's affinity for the densest, sloppiest, blue-collar "Italian" food one could possibly imagine.

“I am deeply ashamed…”

Um, no you fucking aren’t.

And they didn’t even take away his job! He just gets to “gracefully step back.”

Meanwhile 4 CUNY professors at Brooklyn College weren’t reinstated and we still don’t have a reason.

Academia is run like a goddamn joke.

Raskin trying to steer this into something positive is fine, I guess. Although I really wish they wouldn't give her props, they can certainly highlight this outrageous falling-out without giving her any legitimacy in return.

This one makes me irrationally angry though:

I feel blessed by this very specific question.

Also this recurring idea that "Mamdani didn't support Chi Osse's bid before the election." The link is to an article from the Times a week ago that says the same thing but doesn't source it.

What I think of every time I see someone post the most idiotic "as a cyclist I think bike lanes are bad" takes on social media:

The Court Street bike lane is great. #urbanism

Apparently, Elon Musk was also on 4chan all the way back in 2007.

A lot of North American cities would improve if they acted like Montreal did when Dollard-des-Ormeaux voted to leave 2004 and Montreal just said "cool bye."

I mean, I can think of at least ONE other example of where that would have satisfied everyone involved!

Why no, I have no reason to have an exceptionally strong opinion on matters like this:

Always be mindful of how the people who start petitions with noncontroversial headlines like "Save NYC Schools" get their information.

Many teachers, and CUNY professors who used to be teachers say great things about Jamaal Bowman, and they certainly know better than the Free Press or the Post.

This one really says it all. They really can't operate outside the 1933 SPD German strategy of "Listen, let this Hitler dude do his thing because in 1934 we're REALLY going to show him how popular the whole 'National Socialism' thing is at the ballot box!" 🙅‍♂️

Pretty damning evidence that regular non-profit donors don't want to give to orgs that heavily push with AI

The whole survey is interesting, as are Cherian Koshy's attempts to summarize donor's opinions as "conditionally optimistic" about being solicited by AI when much of the data says otherwise.

Nah. No more of this. If you live in New York Fucking City, you're not allowed to prioritize quiet and "suburban charm."

If you really want those things, then move. People who actually love the city for what it is can't afford to live here and want better transit access. #urbanism

The most incomprehensible thing to me is this mindset that A.C.A. Subsidies are their “best issue.”

Yes, the healthcare subsidies are important. But, the President’s party is kidnapping citizens, sending our taxes to Argentina, and they tore down half the White House… among countless other things.

All the wealthiest people in the world are actually morons.

To commemorate Elon Musk getting another $100 bajillion dollars, I remind everyone to recall when he tried to brag about his absolute shit-tier Elden Ring build that even a total FromSoftware noob could tell was bad.

It's one reason why this photo made me so happy yesterday.

As a white guy, I don't need to be represented on a stage.

I just want results that make people's lives better. And, I don't really trust the people who have had it the easiest in life (most white men) to try to provide those results.

Being able to see Eric Adams' actual vote will never be unfunny to me.

Goodbye to what is likely the worst mayor this city has ever had. Which is saying a lot because we also had Jimmy Walker.
