reading this garbage compact piece from a ticket-scalper in which he grants anonymity to his friends so they can claim the reason they don't have the job they think they deserve is because of woke and remembering arendt's writing about how totalitarianism is an alliance of loser-elites & the mob

Saved Down Cemetery Road til all the episodes were there and wow I did not enjoy that first one. Irritating characters, silly story, cringe dialogue. Shame because I really enjoy Ruth Wilson and it was nice to see her and Sinead Matthews together again.

From last night: My remembrance of Rob Reiner, who was, not for nothing, one of the great American directors of romance.
Remembering Rob Reiner, who made movies for people who love them
The movies Reiner directed, from A Few Good Men to The Princess Bride, weren't just good — they were people's favorites, the types of films people come back to again and again.

As a story about keeping cosy while it’s snowy outside and two people making a special connection, Misery is a Christmas film.

You could watch any of these films today and they stand up
Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

It's not relevant and has no actual meaning but I can't stop thinking about how Chris, the best of people in Stand By Me, is stabbed in the end. The world is so fucking sad.

Absolutely devastated by the news about Rob Reiner. By all accounts a good man, and an incredible director. I wouldn't be who I am without his run of '80s classics - and his wife Michelle shaped those because their love story fundamentally changed When Harry Met Sally, for the better.

Zootopia 2 is the highest grossing Hollywood movie of the year & Kpop Demon Hunters was Netflix's most popular movie of all time, but fuck animators, am I right? I hate reading about how huge & beloved this stuff is while knowing how hard creators have it & how it still isn't broadly taken seriously

This column on Vox is the biggest pile of steaming AI crap I've seen this year. Human's aren't running out of ideas. Instead, those with power and money don't want to listen to ideas that threaten their power and money.

Ideas are plentiful. Putting those ideas into action is the hard part.
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

I have very mixed thoughts on the "posting videos of people to ruin their life" industrial complex on social media, but if you get caught in 4k screaming racial slurs at someone at work, you deserve whatever is coming to you. fuck off with this
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:
Why the Cinnabon Story Doesn’t Make Me Happy
The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

I think it’s also true that loneliness among women has historically been treated as an individual problem, while loneliness among men is treated as a societal problem. That, in turn, comes from an assumption that women are supposed to earn the company of others while men are entitled to it.
men’s loneliness gets “more airtime”?

baby I have lived the past three decades of my life witnessing corporate media elevate men’s loneliness into a full-blown balls-to-the-wall CRISIS once every 4-5 years

“more airtime” is hilarious
