TRUMP [after spending 5 minutes with Zohran]: surplus value, it’s a very wonderful thing, very wonderful, and they’re stealing it. Can you believe that?

We’re going to be looking very strongly at the bourgeoisie, what they’re up to

“So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say:–
‘We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that plays it is lost!’”

Oddly, no one has ever demanded that I condemn Anders Breivik. 🤔
this reminds me of the period in american politics when pundits would demand that any black politician of note — really, any black person in politics with a national audience — “condemn farrakhan”
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro chides Zohran Mamdani for not condemning other people’s antisemitism:

“He left open far too much space for extremists to either use his words or for him to not condemn the words of extremists that said some blatantly antisemitic things.”

Why are KAP and CA on the front bench and Greens in the second row? Just personal preference of the MPs?
The new Australian parliament seating chart shows Labor MPs spilling on to the other side of the chamber, forcing the crossbench to shift to benches normally held by the Coalition.

The symbolism writes itself, says Josh Butler 🔗👉 www.theguardian.com/austral...

Watch this to the end.
Actor Mandy Patinkin’s plea for Jews to consider how what Netanyahu’s Israeli government is doing to Gaza is not just harming Palestinians and killing kids — but also endangering Jews across the globe.

Tesla's Fremont, CA factory has been in violation of the Clean Air Act basically nonstop since 2019. Tesla has been doing illegal stealth recalls for years. Autopilot has killed tens of people due to known design issues. Tesla and Musk should be toxic regardless of his role in national politics.
Hysterical that Musk's addled brain continues to blame Tesla's nosedive on his noble DOGE work. It's chiefly because he's been giving Nazi salutes, boosting neo-Nazis on X and goading Trump's shameful treatment of South Africa. Quitting DOGE won't fix Musk's toxic brand unless he quits fascism.

your regular reminder that buying Harry Potter stuff gives money to Rowling and she uses that money directly and in large quantities to fund attacks on trans people

no ethical consumption under capitalism and all but “don’t buy Potter stuff” is an extremely easy baseline to follow

There was an old tweet that stuck with me: "If you can easily walk to the coffee shop but your barista has a one hour commute, you don't live in a walkable 15 minute city; you live in a theme park"
as someone who lives nextdoor to both supportive housing and public housing, i need people to understand that the best locations for both are going to be the central neighborhoods in a metropolitan area, where there is easy and reliable access to services and jobs.

Really incredible story unraveling in this thread, where Amazon and other sites have seemingly been able to sell an academic textbook that was withdrawn in 2021 and never actually printed or published, without the knowledge of the press, editors or contributors. Something has gone deeply wrong!
Hi Chloe,
This is news to me (and to my editor at Routledge.) I'm shocked to find this out. I assume that this is somehow a pirated edition. Does it include the section on Neurodiversity? Part VIII?

Never forget how many of those advising the ALP are patting themselves on the back for ensuring the govt did nothing in this.

“Not an issue/we made sure it hurt the Greens”

Those doing so are truly putrid. At best excusing murder, at worst cheering for it.

Previous example was Fatima Payman, held up by Labor as a great moment in diversity, first woman in a headscarf, who questioned the govt’s stance on Gaza, spoke up for Labor’s *actual* policy, and found herself in the bin.

Never believe the parties when they boast of their noble gestures.

They are the types who think the first order of business after this wins is to bash the Greens and the hope to spend the next 3 years playing uni politics against Tim Wilson.

Meh. Be gone with you. The ALP needs to leave them behind and change the country from the own John Howard changed it to.

The people congratulating the ALP for not caring about genocide really tell on themselves.

They are the lot who would prefer the ALP now be even more LNP out of fear the party will lose seats in 2028 if it uses this win to do things in the ALP platform.

Time to grow a spine or f*ck off.

The Albanese that says rapid emissions reductions = widespread blackouts? That's the guy you're going to see way more of during the next three years.

Just listen to the first episode and it's a really great sharp critique of media coverage of the election - and wwooww I did not know Albo was on chatfield pod saying greens climate policies will cause widespread blackouts!! Wtf
A week after Nine signed onto an anti-racism campaign there is a national debate about Indigenous culture driven, in no small part, by what their highest profile staff spout on radio and ads they place on the front page.
