It's time for slower art. The constant churn and grind pushed by techno capitalism has reached its inevitable conclusion with AI slop. Let's make our best work and be patient with our process. Let's release art that's worth stopping for and savoring. Let's show each other what humans can do

THIS!!!
getting people back into theatres requires two things: a greater diversity of well-produced and marketed films, along with exhibitors working to build community around the idea of moviegoing
I am not sure how to get people back into theaters or if it's possible, but I do know that if the strongest remaining argument is "you SHOULD," or something about the holiness of the collective big-screen experience, the battle is lost. That has no traction with people who don't already believe it.

Riding bikes is 10X more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities. And that’s just the climate emissions. Doesn’t include the massive public & personal cost difference, the air & noise pollution difference, the massive space difference, etc, etc. Via @theconversation.bsky.social

Active travel can help tackle the climate crisis earlier than electric vehicles – even if you swap the car for a bike for just one trip a day.

I was always more of an Andre the Giant guy, but there's no denying Hulk Hogan was an icon. The most unfortunate thing about his death is how much he did in his final decade to shit all over his own legacy. Wiping his ass with every tenant he supposedly stood for and exposing himself as a fraud.

Saw this in the theatre opening weekend. Can confirm the screams, laughter and clapping were in high supply. I don't know why this film isn't up there in the canon of 90s classics but it goddamn well deserves to be. This should be front and centre on Disney+. And where's my 4K Blu-ray release?
35 years ago today ARACHNOPHOBIA was released in theaters, marking the directorial debut of Amblin co-founder Frank Marshall, as well as the 1st film from the legendary Disney production label Hollywood Pictures. The Spielberg-produced summer hit was a top shelf practical creature effects showcase.

For a bunch of guys in their mid-70s, it was incredible to watch Devo fucking kill it last night. Not only are they fantastic showmen but they are really tight as a band. The most raucus fun I've had since Sleaford Mods. Highly recommend seeing them when they come back in September...

Can't wait for this one. Also can't believe it's been 17 years since we last got a Shane Meadows film. Such a brilliant talent.

I don’t know how else to explain this…if you’re cheering for someone else’s rights to be taken away, you’re cheering for your own to disappear too. This isn’t cake. You don’t get more by refusing to share. Either everyone has rights, or no one really does. Thats it. It’s simple.

I fucking love this movie and I can't believe more people don't talk about it, especially since it was a sizeable hit when it was released. Amazing cast. Fantastic writing. Not easy to find but worth the hunt.

Sounds like a job for @kinolorber.com
This buried gem of Touchstone is a comedy that basically doesn't exist. Never released on DVD or blu-ray & isn't streaming. I was lucky to catch it on YouTube. Some aspects of the “fake cop” story haven’t aged perfectly but Reinhold has an undeniable charm that makes it work & Meg Tilly is radiant.
