i just read something about grief from C.S. Lewis and his book, “A Grief Observed”

basically, when someone you love dies, it isn’t just them that you miss, but the parts of yourself that person brought out of you that can never be brought out again.

i feel that with my dad.

It's hard to express what it meant to watch Maurice, Natalia, Celeste, and Rhea tell their stories—in their own voices—this morning.

The segment revealed a brutal reality: homelessness at this scale isn't about personal failure. It's the result of policy choices and systems built to exploit people.

Some news: tomorrow at 9am, Ted Koppel + CBS Sunday Morning will air a two-part story on the devastating surge of full-time workers being pushed into homelessness.

I'll be interviewed along with two families from There Is No Place for Us. It would mean a lot if you'd watch and help spread the word.

One ~182km x ~211km solar thermal plant could provide all of America’s electricity, including a fully-electrified land transport sector.

100% clean power from just 0.39% of U.S land.

That’s why renewables are constantly under attack from the fossil fuel industry and their paid mouthpieces.

Guy saw my Huskers cap at the airport. He went to Colorado in the 90s. Said he went to a game in Lincoln and it was the best game experience he's ever had. Admitted CU fans are assholes.

One of the best explanations of the homeless issue.
A reminder that the crises routinely treated as separate—housing, food, climate, healthcare, electricity—are anything but.

This moment in America makes it glaringly clear: each feeds the other, driven by the same rapacious, profit-maximizing forces.

So nice of the NBA to notice both Mavs and Lakers games are the same time tonight, so they put one of them on ESPN which I currently don't get.😏

Good riddance to Nico Harrison, the personification of everything that’s going on. Blew up something good because he didn’t understand it and it didn’t conform to his vision of toughness. One of the clearest pictures of Everyone Is 12 Now ever produced. Untold damage to my psyche. Enjoy podcasting.

Today's must-read by @thomasbirm.bsky.social: a major corporate landlord is fueling homelessness across the U.S. *and* the mass displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank.

The Israeli company owns tens of thousands of apartments in the South, filing evictions at nine times the national average.

One of Israel’s biggest companies is taking over huge swaths of US real estate—and tenants are paying the price.

A 50-year mortgage to solve the fact that no one can buy a home seems like the kind of idea a man who bankrupted a bunch of casinos would come up with.

Long video, but worth the full watch. It covers Peter Thiel’s journey, showing how much control he has and the danger he poses.

“That moment gave away what Peter Thiel really is: a greedy, selfish person who wants to own the world and will invent any fantasy he can possibly think of to justify it.”

are renewables better for the environment than fossil fuels? yes. is it cheaper? also yes. is it less dangerous to extract? yes, significantly.

but you've gotta understand if we switched, the people who are currently wealthy would not be as wealthy
