Here’s an actual image from a PennDOT proposal in south Philly where they want to put an interchange _above_ 95. Real Hot Wheels shit

Why are dems agreeing to any budget without transit? It just seems like we’re kicking the can two years down the road at which point it will once again be a crisis except with our transit agencies in an even worse place from having drawn from capital funds. Fight now while there’s breathing room
Months of constituent phone calls, protests and rallies, and a state representative walking 105 miles in support of transit couldn’t will Pennsylvania legislators into making a long-term deal for SEPTA.

Here's why Gov. Josh Shapiro and Democrats gave in to Republicans.
Why there was no deal for SEPTA in Harrisburg after all
In an unremarkable end to months of debate over mass transit funding and a hardening Senate GOP position, Gov. Josh Shapiro told SEPTA there wouldn't be a deal this year and to request capital funds.

Potentially GREAT news out of SPC’s Active Transportation Forum this morning. The redesign of the Squirrel Hill interchange COULD include protected bike/ped connections to both sides of the interchange and on to Greenfield and The Run. 1/2

East Liberty. Broad Street at Center Ave. Multiple callers saying a driver of a car drove into a crowd of people. Huge PD response incoming.

You think turning this little part of S Whitfield between the library and the fountain is on any plan? Seems like you get a lot of nice real estate in front of a library and all you lose is like 4 parking spaces and a slip lane on a lightly traveled road. A crosswalk across Baum would be great too.

drivers will be like "how come cyclists are allowed to break traffic laws but I'm not???" and then proceed to break all the traffic laws 🚲🏙️

RFK Jr. is in Philly?
Did not expect to see a bicycle lying in the street at 50th and Florence with a dead possum under it

@septa-social.bsky.social this is a beautiful concourse map. You should put it on the website. You should also put this and all the others maps in the app.

Kids have it tough these days! It’s a pretty scary world they are growing up into, and in the four days of the pilot we all saw how this little street could offer kids so much more than it currently does. Reopening it to cars felt nothing short of tragic thenewurbanorder.substack.com/p/how-philly...

Cycling has helped me notice urban streets and rural roads that "don't go anywhere" (that cars want to go, or there's a faster route for cars). These "naturally" low-car routes are ripe for improvement to make them even more ped and cycle friendly. A few examples in this thread, mostly Philly:

How Far do your tax dollars for Transit go?

After people complaining over and over that SEPTA was inefficient, I had to run the numbers of Ridership to Operating budgets and would you look at that.
Not only is SEPTA good with money, but they are literally the best in the US

Resurfacing just the eastbound lanes of a single 18 mile stretch of I-70 in Jesse Topper's district is costing taxpayers $32 million.

Highways need to be resurfaced every 10-15 years.

Those lanes carry only ~6k vehicles daily.

Why does Jesse Topper's district need these wasteful handouts?

The restoration of dedicated lanes for the St. Clair streetcar is a great case study for what should happen on Girard Avenue.

St. Clair originally had dedicated lanes, lost them, and later restored them—showing the benefits of prioritizing transit.
