I'm sure this article has been written, but I think there's something very interesting about contemprary ideas of the deep past being almost uniformly brown and bland when a lot of modern scholarship suggests quite the opposite
I'm still very interested in this film, and I like Nolan's work okay, but look: it would be really nice if movie directors remembered that human civilizations throughout time and space have generally been quite fond of things like "colored fabric"

The camerawork in Shadow of the Colossus has been unfairly maligned for two decades. Sincerely, I think it's kinda revolutionary stuff, especially in retrospect, after how dry and purely functional third-person cameras have gotten since 2005.

sorry to some folks, but if we want games to be viewed as consequential art and not products - eventually game development at large is going to have to move past the realm of linkedin, forbes 30 under 30, how to market your game, professional business conference stuff and into something else.

I always dislike how people want to bring educational tracks to high schools. Everyone should learn calculus; everyone should read literature; everyone should know their science and their history. Education is not just about getting you a damn job! Shouldn't even be the main goal.

I’m really starting to suspect that most of the tech bros haven’t actually read Tolkien, as they certainly don’t understand it.

The gentle hobbits save the “hard men” of Gondor, largely through compassion and selflessness. Not the other way around. The Christian parable is barely hidden!

Trying to make new games but it's hard to find the energy (or sometimes even a coherent and powerful idea!); here's hoping we can muster something up before the year is over.

Wish I had this energy.
traditional and nontraditional don't have to be polar opposites; they can co-exist, sometimes even in the same person

Having 6 years of foresight on Hollow Knight and choosing to keep corpse run, a feature I have yet to see a single person express affection for, is certainly... a decision, Team Cherry.

Even if the writer intended for simple blue curtains, you can always try to figure out why he thought that was a normal thing for curtains to be
I used to think that the "the writer wrote that the curtains blue because they were blue" discourse was the invention of highschool kids, created out of frustration with being made to analyse literature they didn't care for. Realising that adults also actually believe that was brain destroying.

I was trying to do some research in prep for Nolan's Odyssey next year, but this profile of Ulysses was just 700 pages about the sublime agony of being, the inherent fallibility of perception, and the tyranny of the British.

Also my epub seems to be corrupted, a lot of punctuation is missing.

I realized I forgot to post the actual GMTK game here.
Unfortunately, there are some bugs, but I think it still poses an interesting experience.

See? Verse! Now Dante could have written this.
Everybody (yeah),
Rock your body (yeah),
Everybody,
Rock your body right,
Backstreet’s back, alright!

-Dante Alighieri, “Inferno”

What makes this fake quote so fascinating to me is that it doesn't even sound remotely like anything from the Comedy. Dante was a poet. The Comedy is written in verse.
