I know that at this point it's a subplot in the Epstein files drama, but I feel compelled to point out, once again, that Larry Summers HAS NO BUSINESS teaching students at ANY university ever again!

My latest cries into the abyss, in @thenation.com

Why Is Larry Summers Still Employed?
The revelations about the economist’s attempts to pressure a women into a “relationship”—with guidance from Jeffrey Epstein—should finally disqualify him from teaching students.

Serious question. I hear the Epstein survivors gave a really moving press conference this morning and I was hoping to read an account by a journalist. Is it anywhere on the NYT site? Anywhere even in a sentence in a story? Bueller?

I’m so sick of this Nuzzi stuff, wish I didn’t hear anything more about her

Oh, well, if her former partner wrote it I suppose it might be newsworthy, I’ll skim it

Apparently I simply must read to the end, a likely story, alright fine I will

Oh for fucks sake

I am so effing tired of calling @schumer.senate.gov and @kirstengillibrand.bsky.social—but yes I did! Cannot believe that it keeps coming to this. I guess they both are ready to lose their jobs in the next election.

This is incredibly important:

we must frame tonight as a resounding victory — an electoral landslide, a mandate from the universe itself

and as a repudiation of MAGA, of Trump, and of vichy democrats

we must be relentless, we must not shut up

This. Here we are. And what will we all do?
I distinctly remember, about junior high age, being horrified reading how the Nazis would show-up at a person's house and haul them off to a concentration camp while the neighbors watched and didn't intervene. At that time I told myself, "I'll intervene if I'm ever in that situation." Here we are.
I'm shaking almost too hard to type. I entered SLC airport and heard screams and cries for help. I could see people gathered around, watching. I sped over to discover this woman face down on the floor, four grown men pushing her down, while she cried "HELP ME" and pled for her child.

This. Also breaking my heart.
It’s far from the most important thing, morally right now, or in terms of the human stakes, but the ballroom thing is really breaking my brain.

How many times does Mamdani need to say that he will be a mayor for Jewish New Yorkers? I am so effing sick of this being central to every debate.
October 16, 2025 at 11:25 PM
Media: the Israel-Hamas war has been a major issue in the mayoral campaign [bec we have endlessly made it a major issue in the campaign] so we are going to ask about how to create lasting peace in the Middle East even tho the NY mayor has no part in ME politics

I am old but this post is so true and it breaks my heart.
I do not understand why television stations are not showing live coverage of how there is literally nothing happening in Portland and Chicago. I mean, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather, and Tom Brokaw would each be sitting on a set in those cities telling everyone the white house is lying.

Where are the WH leaks? Is there not a single doctor/nurse/golf caddy/car driver/secret service agent/housecleaner who can tell us WTH is going on, so we can get the champagne ready?
