The problem with designing a villain whose look is military chic but NOT wanting the result to be too obviously fashy is that the conceptual space of "military chic but not obviously fash" is occupied by high school marching bands, and you need to decide for yourself whether you're okay with that.

Or, you know, JK Rowling is hugely transphobic and they weren't alive for the main craze the books had during the 90s.

indie animation is reminding me of the feeling of going to a small film festival and being subjected to an entirely different set of rookie mistakes and tropes than you're used to

Most of these shows aren't even supposed to be a mystery so you can't even fall back on that flimsy justification. Who the fuck are these people and why should I care about them?
a friend pointed this out to me first, but indie animation pilots tend to have the opposite problem to most pilots of big TV shows, where instead of there being too much world and lore & not enough character, it's no setting no plot only character beats & banter

BAGGER: (spilling my groceries on the floor) Oh God. I'm so sorry. This isn't what I'm supposed to do.

ME: How are you supposed to do it?

MANAGER: She means she was gonna be a fox. In the woods and shit. But something happened and she got stuck.

BAGGER: (crying) Got so stuck.

The "traditional" structure of TTRPGs puts an enormous amount of pressure on the GM to learn/refine & very little on the players.

Which is somehow seen as more reasonable than spreading the load of learning/contribution across the whole table.

Broader implications about community in there, y'all.

Can we please re enter the era of video games being completely insane?

This was a grid-based tactical adaptation of the Yu-Gi-Oh card game that was also a retelling of the war of the roses with Yu-Gi-Oh characters as historical figures.

Who was this for? How did it get made?

How can we return?
