Our editorial stance is kidnappings are bad. This is not Real Journalism because it's important to be neutral about atrocities
Got turned down on a piece about ICE in Chicago for an international news org because they believed I couldn’t be objective about my neighbors getting kidnapped. And well, guilty as charged I guess.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

“And having answered so I turn once more to those who sneer at this my city, and I give them back the sneer”
Judge Ellis today not only denounced the Trump administration’s immigration action, but had biting remarks on its clumsy views of Chicago itself

‘The use of force shocks the conscience’: Judge issues sweeping injunction on Chicago tactics of immigration agents
The incoming preliminary injunction replaces a temporary restraining order issued by U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis in early October that was set to expire at 11:30 a.m.

An Authoritarian Dress Rehearsal

IMO there's a real reluctance among some to even engage w/the possibility that the limitations of earlier hardware generations might have contributed something valuable to our experiences with some games on them. Some simply must see technically more advanced graphics as an inherent, objective good.
I reviewed Metal Gear Solid Delta - and I feel the same about it that I do about Persona 3 Reload - I don’t really know why it exists. I think this remake doesn’t quite get how the limitations of the PS2 were important to the game’s identity (1/2) www.inverse.com/gaming/metal...
'Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater' Made Me Question Why Video Games Get Remakes
'Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater' is a competent remake of an all-time classic, but it does lose a bit of the original's vibrant personality in the process.

How to Hide a Genocide

I have come to expect this sort of framing from centrists, and occasionally those further on the left. It is a willful refusal to correctly locate the agents of violence.
