Noting the congressional pension is based on service time, it kicks in at 5 years and her retirement date - Jan. 5, 2026 - will be the first business day after she passes five years since her first swearing in. bsky.app/profile/heli...
Any idea why she's quitting then? Her statement isn't very coherent (big surprise), although it would make more sense as an explanation of just not running for re-election.

I'm not sure there has been progress.
If you're looking at that 2022 season, 8 of 12 of the leagues coaches were women. Now we have more teams and fewer female coaches.

In 2022, 6 black head coaches.
In 2026, 2 black head coaches, 0 black women.
There’s been progress — 7/15 are women, including 2 of color — but for a league that’s 60%+ black, does raise questions about why coaching hires don’t better reflect that.

Not only does he have no WNBA coaching experience, he has no women’s bb coaching experience at all.
The New York Liberty have agreed on a deal to hire Golden State Warriors assistant Chris DeMarco as their new head coach, sources tell ESPN. DeMarco has been with the Warriors since 2012, winning four NBA titles. He also serves as head coach of the Bahamian men's national team.
